Family Values? These are republican family values??
Before some come after me with a pitchfork, let me say, this is not an attack on Bristol, Senator Obamas mother was a teenager, my mother was a teenager. But what I am questioning are the values of the republican party.

Bristol and her boyfriend, are going to have a baby. This happens to many families. But to then parade the teenager and the boyfriend on the national stage, have them hugged by the nominee of the republican party like they were returning astronaut heroes. Is this a message we want to send our young people?

Is this the message that the Republican party is now going to run on. Have unprotected sex, and you too can get your face on national TV at a convention with thousands of people applauding you?

Think about that, I am not talking shame or anything like that, but all things are examples. I am stunned, by the fact that first of all they would put her through all this media hype. This is not a man vs woman scenario. This is for any parent, whether MALE or FEMALE, who would NOT put their personal ambition on hold to help a child get their life settled out. I have ZERO respect for this type of blind ambition.

This is not something that happened while Palin was in the v.p. office, she had a choice to do this, and chose to expose her family to this, while her child is going through this pregnancy. Pregnancy at such a tender age, has unique issues all its own. To then have to endure the type of commentary, and questioning that she has had to endure, shows such a lack of compassion for Bristol, that is takes my breath away. Never forget who chose to do this to that little high school girl, Sarah Palin, John McCain and the republican party.

The republican party has officially become the party of ghouls. There is no level they will not stoop too, to keep power.

Are these the kind of values that we want the 2nd in command to have? Ambition above all? Uhhh thanks but no thanks.

1. Personal ambition, not ambition for the country
It's Me first, not country first.

2. Remember, they parade them around but they are "off limits"
If you don't want your family to be scrutinized and part of the discussion, then leave them at home or at least back stage.

5. I was a teenager once myself
And to be used like that, oh my gosh, can you imagine the tell all book that little girl is going to come out with in about 30 years.

A party of ghouls pretty much sums it all up. Hypocritical ghouls, too.

4. Look how easily the GOP and the religious right have shape-shifted:

preggo teen girls used to be sinful whores, now they're held up as beautiful Madonnas--as long as they're the daughters of white priveleged Christian Republicans, that is. Now, of course, if you're the wrong class, skin color, religion, or party, you're still a sinful whore whose loins must be controlled so that you stop costing hard-working white folks money and populating the country with your undesirable spawn. Forgot to add: but no abortion.

6. That crossed my mind also
But the thing that bothers me the most wienerdoggie, is watching those ghoulish politicians just pawing Bristol, and even her boyfriend. Talk about putting lipstick on a pit bull. There was a prime example.

They are not giving her one inch of space. Is this some kind of Fundy punishment being meted out on Bristol?

8. I don't think it's punishment, they're just trying to make political hay out
of a potentially damaging situation by trotting out her boyfriend and trying to say, "See, it's all good, we're still the family values party"--as long as girls don't abort, and get married to whichever loser shot his wad into her, they can redeem themselves.

10. You may be right there doggie,

14. K
Back up, remember it is Sarah, Todd and John McCain along with the rest of the republican ghouls who are putting these kids in the middle of a media hailstorm.

7. She exploited her kids
What was that poor baby doing in a noisy convention hall, at that hour of the night? Palin has and will continue to trot out her kids when it's convenient...but we're not supposed to call her on it. UGH - I can't STAND this woman!

That is the one being used. I just get the shivers every time I see Sarah and Todd. There is something radically wrong with those people

11. If she were a man doing this to his daughter she'd be
raked over the coals, the only reason she is getting away with dragging her kids in front of a national audience and getting sympathy/support for it, is precisely because she is the mother not the father.

13. Precisely, but we are not suppose to call them out on it

I honestly think this could backfire big time in a couple of weeks, when people stop and think about what they are witnessing on TV

16. It sort of reminds me of when Mary Cheney was allowed on stage to celebrate
with her dad and the AWOL Bush family at the RNC in 2000. I was hoping that meant that if that ticket won, they'd have to be more sensitive to gay issues.. since the V.P.'s daughter is gay. But no. We pretty much never heard from her again.

Bristol is in the spotlight now, but unless her mother becomes president, we won't see or hear from her much at all after this convention. Palin will have her packed up and out of the house and out of her life after this convention.

18. wonderful!! there have been a few posts in here
blaming us for this media mess. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the ghouls at the RNC and John McCain. I have lost all respect for him.

20. I was raised by Republicans. The second they thought I MIGHT be having sex
(as a 19 year old) Even though it wasn''t true, I got kicked out of the family and couldn't come back for YEARS!

Now THAT's Republican family values.

I have NO IDEA who those people might be.
