How DARE Sarah Palin hold up her family values as ones to which
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 09:29 AM by rateyes
my family should aspire! How dare she try to take away my 3 daughters' right to choose an abortion should they find themselves in the same situation as her pregnant 17 year old. My daughters are 20, 18, and 13. They have been educated and armed with the facts about the risks of having sex. They have also been armed with information about the prevention of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. And, to this point, they have all made helluva lot better decisions than has Palin's daughter.

But, I'm not naive. I know the pressures kids are under. And, should any of my daughters unwisely choose to have unprotected sex, or even protected sex that ends in pregnancy, and should she decide to abort that fetus, she will be given the same kind of support that Palin says she is giving her daughter.

But, here's the thing that really galls me. Bristol Palin CHOSE to keep her child, even though her fiance is on record of not wanting to have children. And, that's fine. It's her choice. And, Levi Johnston should step up and support the child that he fathered. But, Sarah Palin wants to take away that choice from my daughters, even if the pregnancy was the result of rape.

Beyond that, there are thousands upon thousands of young girls who are being sexually molested and raped by their own fathers. Sarah Palin would say to a girl impregnated by her father that she would have to get her rapist's permission to abort the fetus (that is if she can't get abortion outlawed altogether). She would force a teenage daughter to raise her daughter in the same home with her rapist, knowing that should she have a daughter, that daughter would most likely be raped, too.

Oh, and what if, instead of pregant, Bristol Palin, because of not having the information she needed, nor the prtection she needed when she had sex with Levi Johnston, she ended up with HIV/AIDS?? Would Sarah Palin be as happy about that as she is today about the upcoming birth of her grandchild?? Would she be glad that she advanced policies that would keep condoms out of the hands of teenagers???

When it comes to our children, and especially our daughters---THAT'S the kind of world Sarah Palin would FORCE on us. She doesn't want your daughters and granddaughters to have the choice her daughter had. She doesn't want to protect your children from the disastrous consequences of making the mistake of having unprotected sex.

To hell with Sarah Palin's moralizing smugness. She can't teach me anything about raising daughters. She can't teach my daughters anything--not with the example she's holding up for them. In fact, she needs to take a lesson from my daughters about how to deal with her own.

Sarah Palin, IMO, isn't fit to be a mother, let alone the VP of the U.S.

1. It's okay for Palin's daughters to have a choice, but
not okay for the rest of the women in this country. Republican hypocracy at its finest.
