Heart Aching, Stomach Churning, Head Spinning, Skin Crawling
There is just no adequate way to describe what I am feeling this morning. At the risk of sounding melodramatic, I am currently in the throes of a surreal experience similar to what I felt during the events of September 11. This just cannot be my country or the world I inhabit.

My brain is having difficulty accepting that anyone could sincerely approve of the platform and tactics of the Republican party with integrity. Good, honest, hard-working people who consider themselves Christians and patriots are willfully engaging in this master-slave social contract.

I can absolutely believe and accept the reality that wealthy, power mad oppressors will stop at nothing to gain and maintain their riches and their authority. But I literally weep at the thought of the oppressed who allow themselves to be lead like sheep to the slaughter...taking the rest of us with them.

I sit her stunned and amazed that this is even a political contest in our nation. I can usually be fairly objective, detach myself from my perspective momentarily and try to see things from an opponent's perspective. I absolutely cannot do that at this time. That McCain and Palin would be considered a viable team to lead our nation and set an example to the global community is beyond appalling, it is simply unthinkable.

I can usually respect someone with different political views. As Obama pointed out, whether you are pro-choice or anti-choice we can all agree that unwanted pregnancies should be reduced.

I have nothing but contempt and an abiding sadness for anyone who truly believes we will be better off with the GOP and their right-wing hijackers in control of our destiny. They have been manipulated and their weakness will be to the detriment of us all.

We absolutely must all do whatever we can within our respective powers to register new voters, educate independents and the apolitical, increase voter turnout and audit election returns. We all deserve a more compassionate, healthier and globally respected national community.

1. I cried in front of my 12 year old this morning
I told her this isn't what her granddad fought in 2 wars for.

He is rollin over in his grave.

4. I cried this morning too.
I realized how incredibly much I love this country. After 8 years of Bush, my feelings about the old US of A have been incredibly mixed. But I DO love it, and I want the best for it, and that's Obama.

It's hard to stomach the idea that those two awful people on the R ticket are fooling ANYONE.

12. I am glad my parents are not here to see this.
shameful. We have to get out there seriously and vote like we never have before we need the numbers, these neo cons/fundis will not stop until they are pushed back hard. Remember: Cheney is out in Georgia, business as usual for the oil man.

3. I find the dizziness goes away if I close one eye and don't focus on anything
After a few minutes the world stops spinning and I can return to basic things like emptying the clothers washer and mopping the floors.

5. I share your anxiety and
absolute bewilderment that the GOP could have so little regard for this country.

It's going to backfire, we will prevail.

7. I feel much the same way you do.
But I was not surprised last night by their use of the divisive tactics that ultimately resulted in the gwbush nightmare; they're desperate to maintain that control and when desperate they get even nastier. I expected the shameless ugly Republican "way" and they delivered just that.

But! But! Their speeches last night were perfect displays of what America is tired of.

The good that comes from last night is that ALL of their speakers can be tied to gwbush now; He was the first to start the divisive same old same old with "The Angry Left"... and what did McBush Quaylen do? Follow suit - more of the same.

I truly believe that by Barack Obama's lead We are building a Democratic Majority. We must not be complacent though - We have to build those numbers and last night was motivation for me to do that.

I am fired up and ready to go to Stop what I saw last night. I think we all are. So buck up! Politics are a nasty bloody brutal business but what we're fighting for is worth every scrape and bruise. We can do this - We ARE doing this.

8. I awoke at 3am this morning with a sense of panic over how important this election is--
Obama and Biden must win this or else our country will be heading down an extremely dangerous road. Palin is an extremist christian with a very big agenda.

As I was awake, I also was worrying about what Cheney is doing to the Russia situation as well as worrying about reports of an imminent attack on Iran.

This current administration will start a war to help get McCain into office. These next two months are going to be pivotal in our history.

10. me too, and in reading your post and the responses, I remembered
the first Obama sign I ever saw- it said

BELIEVE

And the message of HOPE. The 'Audacity' to believe we can really overcome this monster known as the 'right'

We need to encourage each other, and take heart. Coming on the heels of such an uplifting unifying message from the DNC last week, this is really difficult to face.

But WE can! Together, WE CAN bring about the Change this tired old nation of ours so desperately needs.

You- Me- All of us together, doing what we can, where we can, for as long as it takes,

We are walking in mighty footprints, towards goals that are worth struggling and fighting for.

:grouphug: Together, WE can change the future.

11. Ditto -- I'm afraid Bill Mahr might be right..."America is too stupid for good government"
If these tools of the Elite manage to pull off this shell game and bring four more years of CONservativism, then maybe this country deserves to go to hell in a handbasket.

15. The feelings you describe are the feelings I had when finally going to
bed on election night 2004 and 2000. I WILL NEVER FORGET THOSE FEELINGS. I've forgotten the pain of childbirth and that ulcerated tooth, but I'll never forget the pain of losing those elections. I'm reminded every day, all day long and I don't want to go through that again. I work hard at being cautious and not getting cockey and I think we should all do the same.
