The King gets a 'new' dog and pony show stage

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Convention workers hurriedly rebuilt the stage where John McCain will formally accept the Republican Party's presidential nomination Thursday night, embarking on his final drive for the White House after a vigorous sendoff boost from running mate Sarah Palin.

3. No, not chains
He'll be lowered in a replica of his POW cage (built by Halliburton this time around). Then Levi and Bristol will be lowered in identical cages too, and finally, Rick Warren will also be dropped down in a cage to officiate the F-in' Redneck Betrothal Ceremony. As a goodwill gesture, after the convention is over the cages will be sold to FEMA for use as storm disaster housing and displaced-person rail transport pods. It will be a win for everyone!

12. It's going to be a runway stage, not unlike the one we had
Parts of the platform at the Xcel Energy Center were removed by construction workers on Thursday to bring delegates closer to where McCain will give his acceptance speech, giving the stage a T-shape. Organizers said the change reflected the town hall-type forums in which McCain has campaigned.

"The extended podium will serve as a fitting complement to John McCain's preference for direct interaction with his fellow citizens," said Maria Cino, a convention official...

2. ZZZZZZZZZZZ
He's a terrible public speaker, and you could put him in (an empty) Invesco and it wouldn't help.

11. Looks a lot like Obama's podium from Thursday according to what I saw this morning
McCain showed up last night like Obama did. Now he's having his podium look like Obama's. No new ideas at all.

13. Okay, So Let Me Get This Straight...
The GOPers have been bashing the layout at Mile High last week. DumbFuck Palin, for example, called it "foam rubber Greek columns" or some such. (No, IDIOT, it was simple plywood and paint designed to look like the White House facade.) Now they're modifying the stage at the GOP convention to keep up.

Sounds to me like the GOPers were just mad that they hadn't thought of it first. Too bad they're too brain dead to realize they HAD thought of it first. Or did they forget that elaborate set at MSG in '04?

McCain isn't campaigning against Obama, he's REACTING to him. It was clear in his choice of Palin for VP (we all know he wanted Holy Joe Lieberman). It's clearer still in this stunt today. I'm sure there'll be several more examples between now and 11/4.

And it's still not gonna help him.
