2. The most important state this fall will be Colorado
Even if McCain wins OH, FL, AND VA, he'll still lose if Obama picks up CO, assuming that Obama sweeps the Pacific coast, the Northeast, the Midwestern states of MI/WI/MN/IA/IL, and New Mexico (where he was ahead by 13 in a poll conducted very recently.)

That's it. To all the negative folks out there, Obama's path to the White House is a very easy one, whereas McCain's is a very difficult one. It's similar to the primaries with Clinton vs. Obama. Obama always had a much easier road, whereas Clinton was always on the defensive.

13. Kerry's states + IA and NM.
That's 264 electoral votes right there. If Obama can will all the states Kerry won in 2004, plus Iowa and New Mexico, any one of CO, OH, VA, FL or MO will put him over the top. McCain would need to win all of those *plus* Nevada.

There's no reason to believe that Obama won't win all the Kerry states plus IA and NM. NH is polling pretty close right now, but I don't see a chance for McCain to take it. Bush won NH by 1% in 2000, otherwise it's solidly blue.

16. Colorado will be completely owned by Obama. McCain can't have our water.
It's a huge issue that normal people actually care about.

9. I hope so, he's saturated his base, Palin was a ploy to pull new voters in...
...but she's crazier than he is and I think it will hurt him in the long run...

Now we have to wait and see what kind of bounce McCain and Failing get from the RNC.

7. I don't think his bounce will be very meaningful or lasting...
Obama's convention was an introduction to many voters who may not have seen him as viable, I think these new supporters will stick.

McCain was a known entity, I don't think Palin attracts a significant number of swing voters--she is more severe than he is, so they've solidified their base but not brought in many new voters.

Time will tell, let's check pollster again in the middle of next week.

10. The Florida graph is pure Obama. FDP is a disaster area.
The Chair is working part time for the biggest Republican lobbying firm in the state, FDP
routinely undermines progressive candidates, and they were partially responsible for the
stupidity on the primary date.

This means that Obama's numbers there are just him, despite the state of the party, which is
in clear public view on a regular basis.

That's very encouraging.

14. With good turnout, we should nail it, do you think?
If enough democrats register and turn out, and if any shenanigans regarding voter disenfranchisement are handled in time, I think NC is ours.

I'm in California, I imagine the Obama campaign has a pretty good operation there.

15. Turnout is always key.
If our ground game is solid and turnout is good, we should see some stunning victories in unusual places.
