My Mom BRAGGED That CNN was PRAISING Sarah Palin's Speech This Morning
Is that true?

Is it?

Because if it is I want to puke!

That speech was nothing but vile and nasty. It reminded me of the bullies who used to pick on me when I was in High School.

It did not have any suggestions about how to HEAL America's problems only ways to pick at the scabs.

I was so saddened to hear that when I came into work today (mom and I work at the same office). She is a Republican and was just beaming to let me know about all the praise Sarah was getting on CNN. The "Liberal" network. She said, "If even those crazy liberals on CNN think she's great..." and then went on to tell me how she hadn't even heard what Fox News "The "moderate" network" had to say about it.

My Dad and I got into a fight last night too, because I told him that the CNN poll only had the speech rated at 42% positive. He told me that only liberal loons watch CNN. And I told him that CNN was moderate to moderate-right and that the only reason he thought it was so liberal is because his political views are far right. He literally burst out laughing at me for having suggested it.

I told him that peer reviewed researched journals have shown that this is not the case by measuring the number of positive political statements verses negative political statements that are made on national networks. That it has been shown that most networks are slightly harder on democrats than republicans.

And he said that was because democrats were wrong more often.

Whatever ...

But if CNN praised Sarah's speech then I am very, very pissed. Please say it ain't so :(

2. It's not nicknamed the Corporate News Network (CNN) for nothing. All the mainstream media is
attempting to make "a silk purse from a sow's ear" - to put it figuratively.

It's almost comical and I can hardly wait to catch "The Daily Show Tonight." :-)

4. Did you not hear McCain threw a hissy fit
and won't do Larry King if CNN doesn't kiss their ass. Of course CNN is praising Republicans. That's all they do, all the time. If it weren't for Olbermann, and now Rachel, there wouldn't be any good coverage for Democrats, let alone liberals, at all. Your parents have been brainwashed, if you didn't already know that.

12. That's what they always say about me
how I've been brainwashed and am a crazy liberal.

My Dad doesn't even believe in evolution.

They FINALLY believe in Global Warming because I made them watch Gore's documentary. I can't get them to watch any Michael Moore documentary, or watch any liberal shows, or read any news from DU because they insist that it is all lies.

I have explained that factcheck.org has backed Michael Moore up on many occassions.

They insist that factcheck is probably some "liberal" organization.

I live with these people. It is so tough. I'm openly gay, and while they have finally come to support that, the can't stand anything that's even semi-left. When I supported legalizing alcohol in our town... they freaked out, because alcohol was a sin.

Ignoring that Jesus drank wine at the last supper. :eyes:

22. I can possibly move out when I graduate college
but I do love my parents. They frustrate me to no end. But I love them at the same time. So it is a give and take. Very complex. I'm surprised I haven't pulled all of my hair out, because I am unable to keep any of my political views to myself.

I think things such as healthcare for everyone, reaching out to the poor, making sure that gay marriage is legal and the death penalty is not. I think these things are too important to keep quiet about it. I still have the delusions that I might someday be able to pursued them towards the light.

5. The problem is people don't discern the difference
between some pundit on CNN or MSNBC, and the anchor. As a result someone who doesn't pay a lot of attention will see some wingnut on the good ol' morning show saying how great Sarah whatshername is, and the person that catches that show will think, great CNN loves her, so I'll love her.

The secret of this country is to keep us so busy that we don't have time to think.

The big problem is, most people just aren't like us. The don't care, and if they do, they don't have the time to care.

32. I wish we could get the word OUT to the masses on how the media really works
and that is the problem that I do not know how to solve.

I will never understand why anyone would simply trust what someone else told them just because they are on TV.

sad, but true :(

And I don't see why anyone would EVER watch Fox News... every-time I see it I feel like I'm watching a cheesy game show.

living with them is hard sometimes. I love them, but they are frustrating. They finally accepted and support that I am gay. It took a few years.

My brother, however, is worse than them. Calls me a faggot, and thinks that all welfare programs should be suspended, and hates hates hates hispanics.

Edit: Oh and he wants to LOWER the minimum wage, and says that if people can't afford health care then they should die as punishment for being lazy.

I dunno if she likes the fact shes going to, but i think she realises my future is at stake if she votes mccain

Your parents sound like the 30% of the population who still think that chimpy is doing a heckuva job. I'd try not to discuss politics with them, if I were you.

19. Oh trust me they do.
They think Bush is cool... STILL. They would vote for Bush for a third term in a heart beat.

I can't help but to talk politics with them. I love politics. It is such a big part of my life. I feel very very passionate about the things I care about. Gay Marriage, ending the death penalty, getting rid of guns, making sure ever child has the chance to go to college, extending our hands to the poor because that is our duty as human beings, and providing health care for everyone.

Those are all ideas they think are stupid (except gay marriage... they want gays to be able to marry oddly enough).

I FINALLY got them to watch Gore's documentary and they now believe in Global Warming. Which they did not before.

However, they refuse to watch moore becasue they know he is a liar and all these liberals are liars so they wont even watch.

26. CNN wasn't praising her speech.
It was just the CNN COMMENTATORS who were praising her speech.

After all, CNN is part of the liberal media. They try to balance their liberal leaning by having all their talking heads praise republicans.

Clever of them, isn't it?
