Putting "Concern" In Front Of The Word "Troll"- It's Still Calling A Fellow DU'er A Troll
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 11:51 AM by cryingshame
and I'm not quite sure why it's accepted here on DU. That's not my call and not the ultimate purpose of this thread.

But just because someone doesn't agree with Team Obama's strategy or the tenor of the discussions around here doesn't mean they are a troll or concern-troll.

See, there are two types of DU'ers right now:

#1. those who Call Palin names, focus on her family and call her inexperienced.

#2. those who point out her legacy in Wacilla is leaving it with 20 million dollar in debt and 43 Meth Labs.

Which do YOU think is more politically damaging in conversations with friends, family and neighbors, co-workers?

So if I get sick of logging on to DU and finding threads about Bristol and Tracy Flick, I just might get disgusted and start a thread saying how stupid so many of the attacks on DU are right now. And how misguided this obsessive focus on Palin is.

But I am not a troll or a concern troll.

Moderators repeatedly tell us, if you think someone is a troll, ignore them and alert. Ignore them, they'll get more frustrated and become more obvious.

1. I was called Rove yesterday or the day before, for agreeing
with Obama and Biden that we should leave the kids out of it.

10. Yeah, that was a fun thread.
I'm being sarcastic, of course. I find it amusing that people are quick to whip out the Rovian label for people who adamantly refuse to use Rovian tactics.

The logic is pretty convoluted. You're Rovian if you're not Rovian. And, unless you engage in Rovian attacks, you're Rovian!

2. There are tons of trolls on here
Bristol is a grown woman. If she is being used to promote the ticket, then she's fair game (as are the families of everyone else). The GOP has won against us every year by being cutthroat ... time to pick up some of the method if not the madness behind it.

3. For the most part I agree...
but there has been a plethora of "I'm worried about..." threads by hit and run low post count individuals. When combined with the knowledge that the McCain campaign is encouraging their supporters to spam "liberal" blogs and message boards, the hair trigger on the troll accusations is especially edgy....

IMHO

6. Moderators repeatedly say we help them do their jobs by ignoring and alerting trolls
or suspected trolls. If you ignore them, they'll begin to get frustrated and more obvious.

12. Will do...
I've just been hiding threads, but maybe the alert option is a better approach...

4. I understand but it is more than obvious we have been infiltrated by nothing
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 11:54 AM by AuntPatsy
more than those wishing to disrupt, its why skinner told us last Saturday that they had to redo the systme to handle all the new ones...

And considering some of the issues over the last eight years, for some to come on and get enough posts just to tell people to leave palin alone even admitting that issue upsets them is proof positive to me they are not here to do anything more than disrupt, I guess they did not mind how Hillary was attacked by the gop or how Obama and his wife has, so I can understand people getting upset with others telling them to stop..

8. I subscribe to no.2 but give up on mitigate no.1. and I've been called a troll.
Apparently I've been alerted and so have my posts. I'm far from anti-Obama, but I'm still labeled a troll. I am an independent so I figure my answers and posts reflect that and it's unliked here.
