Was the choice always going to be Sarah? If Rudy, or Mitt, or Fred or even Huck had won the |

nomination, were they going to have to accept Sarah as well? Part of me thinks that she was McCain's Hail Mary pass, made without any real forethought and certainly no serious effort. The other part of me wonders if she was going to be plucked from obscurity no matter who got the nod. Mitt, Rudy, and even possibly Fred needed some bait to dangle in front of the religious fanatics. (Huck was possibly far enough right for the religiously insane, so he may have been allowed to go with someone a little more moderate.)
And if Hillary had won our nomination, or been selected as the VP candidate, they would have been able to counter with their own female candidate, giving us women-folk a 'choice', as it were.
Any opinions about that?
Sorry if this has been discussed before. Although I've made an admirable effort to stay on top of the Palin situation, I don't think it's humanly possible to read the approximately 3,000 new Palin threads that pop up here every day.

1. I prefer to be called a Vagina-American, thank you. |

:P
I can't imagine they gave Sarah any serious consideration for any length of time.
I figure they did what republicans always seem to do... assume someone else has done the legwork.
So when they caught the buzz about this rootin tootin moose-killin mama who had a reputation for being a 'reformer', they figured those who were pushing the idea for MONTHS had done some research.
Someday, they'll learn that their side is just NOT big on facts or research of any kind.
