A look at the convention bounces so far...
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 12:44 PM by Drunken Irishman

I thought it'd be interesting to compare the bounces to each specific day of the RNC and DNC conventions.

When this whole thing started, Obama and McCain were tied and after day one, McCain led by one. Now it's important to note that the daily events of the convention do not show up in the numbers directly after, so Start of DNC won't show its bump until the "3rd Day" numbers.

What we see here is that by this time last week, Obama had seen his biggest swing yet, all before his historic speech. To compare: The RNC is -1 on the final day of the convention then where they started Monday. What does this mean? They better hope for a huge bump from Palin's speech yesterday and another huge bump from McCain's speech tonight, or their convention will be a bust. If they don't get within 2 points of Obama (ideally tied or with a slight lead), they could be screwed.

So is it likely the polling post-Palin and McCain's speeches is enough to get them there? Not sure...

1. Just wait until they get a load of McButthead's "heh-heh-uhh-heh-heh" routine.
His speech will have them all adjusting their barcaloungers.

3. That doesn't show the effect of the Palin speech
and the way the media has been kissing her butt, who knows what effect it might have?

4. No, but it shows she'll need a huge bounce to get McCain back into this thing.
