and we'd better get used to it and change our campaign, if needed.
Frankly, I did not watch her speech last night, except for that part when she "reminisced" about how McCain was lower than low last year, thinking that the only one who stood by him then was Tim Pawlenty...
But this morning all the pundits were gushing over her, saying how everyone loved her and how many women could connect with her, being a working mother, especailly Mika Brzezinski. The only one who saved the day was, surprisingly, Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) who said that the women of Minnesota might be intrigued by Palin, but that they are struggling with the economic hardship brought about by 8 years of Bush, and even "Morning Joe" had to begrudged her that "she did good."
Yes, we can enjoy the video clips that Jon Stewart ran yesterday showing their hypocrisy. So what? These go over their heads. As far as they are concerned, when they say that Gov. Kaine does not have much experience they are right on the money. When we say the same about Palin - well she has more experience then Obama they say (and more than McCain, we need to add). When a Hollywood girl or, a Democratic one gets pregnant, she is a slut and the parents are to blame. When it is one of their own - this is what every family is facing. We can show statistics that, no, it is not the norm for most families to have their teen daughters pregnant. It won't matter. We have known for many years that logic and rational thoughts are not the core of the right wingers.
What, then? We have to keep pounding on the economy that is what the Republican White House and Congress have left us.
And, please, Obama and Biden, drop the "above my pay grade." It was Biden, this morning, who had the "deer in the headlights" not Palin last night. Because she, apparently, did mention the economy; she talked about energy and tax cuts and for Biden - and I love you Joe, you were my first choice - to say that she did not really hurt his credibility. The CBS anchor politely ended the interview by saying that "we disagree."
We can agree with them that Palin is vivacious and funny and what have you, and add that this still does not make for a president who can be tough with Russia, and Korea, and Pakistan.
And we need to talk that this is why a President have a cabinet. To execute a policy and it is the policy that we are offering the American people.
Let's be honest. We knew that this was going to be a problem. We did not elect a sitting senator since 1960, agreeing that the head of the Executive Branch had to have executive experience and this is why we elected governors - both parties.
Thus, this is something that we should have been ready for it, whether McCain running mate was going to be Ridge, Rumney, or Barbie Doll. We need to reduce the importance of executive experience and to elevate policies that would provide health care, and improve school and dignified retirement and explaining how the monstrous deficit affects us and our children and grandchildren.
We need to reduce our policies into "table talk" issues so that we do talk to individuals.
Last, I really like Hillary Rosen who has been talking on CNN. Has not seen her today but she mentioned that the citizens of Alaska do not enjoy the health benefits that Palin's family enjoys.. thanks to tax payers.
