Cindy McCain think Palin is "a babe" - but that's not sexist
John Aravosis (DC) · 9/04/2008 03:17:00 PM ET ·

Speaking to Diane Sawyer, Cindy McCain blasted the overall coverage of Palin as sexist -- and specifically an Us Weekly cover headlined "Babies, Lies and Scandal."

"I think it's insulting," McCain told Sawyer. "I think it's outlandish. And for whatever reason, the media has decided to treat her differently, because, I believe, because she's a woman."

...................

While McCain believes sexism has fueled much of the criticism against Palin, she didn't disagree with conservative commentator and radio host Rush Limbaugh's assertion of the governor.

"We're the ones with a babe on the ticket," Limbaugh said.

"She is. She's lovely. I think she's beautiful," McCain said in response to the comment.

2. bleh
I wouldn't be surprised if a male candidate with a pregnant 17 year old daughter had made US Weekly, honestly. I mean, I definitely don't think it was the classiest move, but US Weekly is a fucking tabloid. Pregnant teenagers have been a narrative of tabloids this year.

6. Carly Fiorina
called Joe Biden "sexist" for saying of Palin "she's better looking than me" (a statement that he easily could have made about Mitt Romney, even though it's not true. But he does have a Ken doll reputation). Cindy defends Rush, who is the ultimate symbol of sexism. They want her marketed as a sex symbol ("hottest governor buttons at RNC). Even some republican women called out Rush, but Cindy couldn't do the same.

9. Carly decloaked as a complete idiot
with her little 'speech'. The tragic lack of imagination of the American business community is well-known, but I always had the impression Carly was a few shades brighter than the rest of the tribe. Of course I'm aware of her longstanding tropism for reactionary causes of the left coast venture cap flavor (evidenced by her participation in an inane white paper entitled "why compete" - "hey Biff, let's play some soccer after the meeting finishes") but after all, we're supposed to have hope.

4. "Hoosiers for the hot chick" buttons are being worn at the convention
St. Paul - When you attend a political convention you are almost guaranteed to see something you have never seen before. Something you can't explain. Something you really can only wear for about a week.

Buttons are the hot item at the Republican National Convention. The Alaskan button reads, 'From the coldest state comes the hottest vice president." But Sen. Sue Landske and some fellow Hoosiers came up with a button of their own: "Hoosiers for the hot chick."

5. Maybe someone should ask them to define the word, sexist"
because I do not believe most of the repugs have even a hint of the meaning of the word. guess I would like one of them to also define the "hockey mom" that they keep talking about. As i understand the term, it is a mom who drives her kid to hockey practice every day..and stays in the stand to watch them practice, then drives them home, fixes dinner, helps with homework, gets them up for breakfast and starts the whole routine over again. drives them to every game...most out of town and stays over if needed to watch them play...drives home again, etc. etc. Helps out at the games selling soda and whatever...and much more. In other words a hockey moms day is full of hockey and other sports and all the driving that goes with it. For some reason, I dont see Sarah as ever doing all that is involved to be considered anything close to being called a "hockey mom".

8. Well, Johnny took the babe in the woods out of the woods.
But he didn't look to see what she was hiding behind the trees.
