It's clear that the media spin on Palin's speech is ridiculous
The media is spinning that the speech was great, but here's the reality:

  • It was mean-spirited and petty.

  • It was filled with lies.

  • People were turned off by it.

  • Obama's fundraising shot through the roof after it (approaching $10 million from 130,000 donors)

  • Community organizers are pissed off.

  • Focus groups show women and moderates didn't like the speech.

  • McCain's campaign is canceling events and hiding from the media.

1. And because her speech drew so many viewers, I think that people might see
a bit of a disconnect between what they saw and what the media is telling them to see.

5. They are desperate for ratings, so turn off anything that doesn't have critical analysis.
And let the rest of them suffer with poor ratings.

6. All the indys and apolitical dems I know are really turned off by Palin.
My best friend from high school who voted for Clinton in the primary but is not all that political when you get down to it called me specifically to rant about Palin. My office manager, strong Clinton supporter, hates Palin and has finally vowed to vote Obama in the General. The other manager, indy leans conservative, watched the RNC speeches yesterday and mentioned without prompting how turned off he was.

I dunno, Palin may play well with the base, but the indys and Clinton supporters I know are not impressed, to put it mildly.

7. The spin is disturbing. Do you have a link to McCain canceling events
and hiding from the media?

Thanks,

:)

9. Only $1 million for RNC
*** UPDATE *** The Wall Street Journal, meanwhile, is reporting that the RNC raised $1 million after Palin's speech.

10. It was a speech given by a racist to a crowd of racists.
Any redneck who had come out and said "ain't he UPPITY?!" would have gotten a standing ovation for 15 minutes before that crowd of mouth breathing racists.

She READ a speech someone else wrote. If you could question her about the things she said, she couldn't tell you to save her life any substance behind those statements.

She's the GOP Spokesmodel, not a candidate. Candidates answer questions.
