Here's what happened in the CBS Poll:
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 04:59 PM by Teaser
From TPMElectionCentral:

"Oh my god. Does Eric even read the crosstabs? Do you want an explanation for what happened since the last poll?
They changed their party ID. They decreased Independents by 5 pts (which Obama is winning) and raised Repub by 5 points. Slight of hand party for such a shift in two day period. People please look at the stats."

3. you shouldn't have to look into it
the idea that obama is at 42% is a joke. If they want to pretend it's a horse race, show it tied at 46 or 47.

7. Some of the daily polls confuse me, too...
A few times I've noticed the gender gap being spun oddly in the numbers. For instance, in one last week Obama was up by around 4 despite having a 13 point advantage amongst women and a deficit of only 6 amongst men - Odd, considering women out-vote men in general by anywhere from 4 to 8 percent.

9. Can Someone Explain This To Me?
Do they just randomly question 1,000 people and let the rest of the percentages fall where they may?

Otherwise, I don't get why these numbers would change so significantly over 7 days.

Anyone?
