Okay. Here's my issue with the whole Palin or Obama experience...
...question:

We are just (finally) coming off the 8-year long Bush 'CEO' model presidency. It has been a TOTAL and COMPLETE failure. Not just my opinion.

EVERYTHING about that model was wrong...the people he chose, the way he delegated, the 'restructuring' of government agencies, not to mention that his vision was not supported by the people. The people didn't want an ownership society and privatization of everything from schools to medical care. The people didn't want to end Social Security, have a pre-emptive war, torture people, spy on people, dirty the environment, etc.

So now, in 2008, we are discussing Presidential (and VP) candidate resumes. All are touting their own type of experience for the job. But the discussion is still in terms of a 'CEO' type President. Obama cites his legal, teaching and community organizing work to show he can be an 'executive'. Palin cites her mayoral and gubernatorial 'executive' experience as being superior. McCain and Biden have senatorial records and foreign policy records, or even military records...but this VAST experience is ignored. It is not 'CEO' experience, so I guess it is not important.:sarcasm:

I think that is wrong. I have a LOT of trouble with that. The experience that I want in my next president is not their management, or 'CEO' skills...it is their LEADERSHIP skills. I want my next president to be VERY INTELLIGENT. I want my next president to know things I have no idea about...but they DO because of the life they have lead. I want my next president to be able to motivate America to DO WHAT IS NEEDED to lead in the world and be the best America we can be.

The 'CEO' model did not work. The last eight years proved that. So I think it's time we re-focused our discussion about experience for our next President (and VP). Let's discuss their intelligence. Let's discuss their ability to motivate and bring people into the process and add energy to our democracy. Let's discuss government experience. But let's also discuss VISION and DIRECTION for our country.

No more 'CEO Presidencies' for me...not after eight years of GWB.

1. Very true, and experience does not equal competence.

4. And another 'CEO' is not what the country needs...
...right now. We need a person known and trusted here and abroad.

2. Comparing Obama to Palin is a trap. It diminishes Obama no matter the argument.

3. Finally, I don't feel so damn alone saying that to people all the time on here
Obama is running against George W. McCain. That is all that needs to be said about Palin.

5. The discussion needs to be about defining...
...leadership. For me, that definition is not about CEO skills and having an MBA.

What strengths do we need in our next leader? Which candidates measure up?

And I agree...it's about how Obama measures up, and how McCain measures up.

7. Huckabee tonight, being interviewed on Palin's qualifications,
noted that judgment was the most important thing.

Did he have any idea at all that he was making an argument for Obama?

Would like to see that interview aired over and over.
