I know that some have confidence in the "common folk" being tired of Rovian squabbles but I remember too well listening to Kerry giving thoughtful, measured responses while idiot-boy spoke gibberish sound-bites.

Do not overestimate the intelligence of the electorate.

And, for the love of Pete, PLEASE SEND SOMEONE INTO THE MSM WHO CAN ATTACK WITH NASTY, POINTED BARBS. (Carville is one who comes to mind)

1. John Kerry has done a good job this election cycle ... "SEND HIM"!
Where's Wesley Clark? Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been good
lately. I also thought Janet Napolitano did a good job with
Disco Dave Gregory yesterday afternoon.

4. You're right - Kerry's been excellent. I loved his speech at the convention - and still
don't understand why practically no one so much as mentioned it!

19. Schultz was awful on Larry King last night.
He asked her a question and she drew a total blank - you could see it in her face, and then answered (or rambled) on something totally different.

26. Except Al has become such a statesman that I wouldn't want to drag him
into the mud.

It has to be someone who's a born fighter ... I'd love
it if Feingold hadn't been so supportive of BombBomb
(WTF is up with that?) and so absent during this elec-
tion season.

Dick Durbin has been good also. Chris Dodd is another
good surrogate -- he has the "gravitas" advantage, and
he can also work up some venom when necessary.

3. I have the same desire to hear/see someone lash out and bite back. I don't know if the high-road
has as many people traveling on it as we'd like to think...

Not that we should stoop to their level. But some barbed criticism is more than justified,
at this point.

20. He made the republican talking heads look silly
Other memorable moments was when Carville talked about the Selling a plane on Ebay. Another funny moment was he connected the hurricane that had touchdowned that day with all the rumors circulating about Palin by saying: "There seem to be a lot of water building up behind the levees of Gov. Palin, the republican better get some sandbags in there quick". I fell on the floor laughing

15. I did see Gov. Dean on CNN this afternoon and I do appreciate him.
But Palin's speech was a serious of sound-bites. This is the crap that gets played over and over in the MSM and people remember. Sorry, but Gov. Dean isn't strong in that line of attack.

That is exactly what Dean addressed.

Why should they bother to speak out if they get nothing but criticism.

7. I really think Hillary SHOULD be used in this case
With the MSM's own meme leading into the Dem convention her "18 million supporters", theres no one better equipped to challange Palin directly.

And due to their prior support for her the MSM couldnt ignore Hillary like they would if any other female Dem confronted Palin.

hate to travel down this road again but...

Also, Palin was picked to court the evangelicals more so than disaffected Hillary supporters. There's nothing in common between Palin and Hillary other than chromosomes. Hillary vs Palin gives the media and the GOP what it wants. Hillary should not directly go after Palin.

13. You may have heard the Republican National Convention is going on.
I know, it's easy to miss.

Anyhoo, it's tradition for one party to keep fairly quiet while the other is holding their convention.

Relax, Obama will make big surprise news tomorrow.

16. They can attack - but they have to wait a while or it lessens the effect.
Right now McCain and Palin look nasty and vengeful. By not attacking them right now, that stands out. If Dems attacked them, it would lessen the effect of their recent behavior - an effect that is not favorable to the GOP. Letting it sit out there on it's own is drawing more attention to it than anything anyone could say.

23. As you say, "Do not overestimate the intelligence of the electorate":
This was said earlier.
"No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby. "
