Mathews asked Ghouliani some interesting ?s re his dissing of cities
paraphrase - Matthews said he found it intersting that the convention last night almost seemed to be renouncing urban and suburban areas in favor of rural small towns and asked if the party was in full retreat from urban areas. Questioned him as a former big city mayor using the word "cosmopolitan" in such a mocking manner and noted it was ironic for him to be the one relaying that message. Said something like, is the tent getting smaller? Asked if they were deserting the East Coast urban areas and noted that there was exactly one Republican congressman in that area and they were just getting hammered in elections.

It was actually quite interesting and thought provoking.

4. Ghouliani was still in his new improved "jovial" mode and pretty much just chuckled and
said of course not as his eyes darted furiously around looking for the exit.

7. did you see the end, where tweety called the speech one of the "great" political
speeches of all time?

he let Giuliani get away with murder the entire interview, and didn't call him on a single instance of his myriad lies

looked like they'd just bonged up at a frat party

6. Some time back, and I'm thinking this was
easily twenty years ago, there was a lot of buzz about how people could work from home and so the rural areas would be re-populated by people wanting to live those big, nasty cities for a Better Way of Life. Notice it didn't happen. Probably never will. Cities are here to stay, sort of like electricity, cars, and compact disks until they're replaced by something else.
