PBS perpetuating the myth of McCain's refusal to go home from Hanoi.
WHY WHY WHY have not one media outlet refused to tell the TRUTH about the real circumstances of POWs?

somebody posted the actual relevant passage in the UCMJ, or whatever codes in which the rule regarding leaving confinement exist:

an officer can NOT leave prison until fellow prisoners/lower ranking soldiers, etc. go home, on pain of courts martial

is this accurate, and, if so, WHY is the lie about him refusing to go back ALWAYS recounted with reverence?

to be fair, Philip Butler, a fellow prisoner, is being quoted, saying McCain learned the wrong lesson there, and will vote Obama

also, Orson Swindle is being heavily relied on. he, of Swiftboat fame

Robert Timberg, author of The Nightingale's Song, says he hasn't grown much since 1973. His book details McCain's SERIAL adultery after his return in the 70s, but the PBS story does NOT mention anything about that....stops with his return from Vietnam.

1. I was floored when I heard that last night.
I think it was the Preacher who said it.

I had been drinking quite a bit and turned to Nina and asked if I had heard correctly.

What a crock of crap.

But the pukes were lapping it up.

2. the completely worthless Mark Shields, in discussion afterwards, says
that McCain is "uncomfortable" talking about his PO Dubya status

flaccid worms like Shields represent the greatest obstacle to defeating the fascists this time

they REFUSE to fight back against the likes of David Brooks, who litter the political landscape with their lies and dissimulation

4. Actually, from the "Code of Conduct" Card
Given to every soldier in basic training "If captured, I will accept no parole or special favor from the enemy..." From the UMCJ any commissioned officer to violate the code of conduct would also face charges on "conduct unbecoming" and then tied to admittedly making anti-US videos (and especially because this was at a time US involvement was being expanded)...well, as the son of an admiral, the courts-martial would have given him AT A MINIMUM time in Leavenworth and a dishonorable discharge.

He was sent to hell. But the arguement he could have used a "Get out of jail free" card is false. He could have gotten out of one jail and been reviled and sent to another.
