Last night John McCain and the republican party insisted that only John McCain could go back to the same Washington he has known for 26 years and clean house. The question is who could he turn to to get the job done? The likely answer is the usual suspects - after all who else is there? The same republican house and senate members, the same republican staffers, the same republican policy wonks, and the same republican K Street money men. And what exactly is the republican incentive to change? After all once they are assured four more years of a republican in the White House why not just return to business as usual? John McCain says he has a plan but just what is John McCain offering? A continuation of the same old Bush policies that have lead us to the mess we're in right now.
One definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. The republicans want us all to believe that by voting for the same party and the same people we will get different results. Just how crazy do they think we all are anyway?

We played nice in 2000. We played nice in 2004. Insanity would be playing nice now.
