Rachel Maddow on MSNBC: McCain and Palin are "LYING ... LYING ... LYING" !
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 07:28 PM by ProgressiveEconomist
Sitting in for Keith, who's "taking a well-deserved day of vacation", Rachel is the most candid I've ever heard any political commentator be, when it comes to fact-checking speeches.

She NAILS McCain on untruths captured in clips of his speech last night, and she NAILS Palin on untruths from her acceptance speech repeated (and captured in clips) in Wisconsin today.

Be sure to set your PVRs to record at least the first 15 minutes of the 2am (Eastern) rebroadcast of Countdown.

Did anyone take notes on Rachel's exact words?

1. Since she, Rachel, got the show on MSNBC
I find Ed Schultz radio to be "bitter", picking on MSNBC hosts by name.... I guess during their appearances during the Primaries, Schultz, Maddow and others on MSNBC were really auditioning for the assignment/show. Hahahahaha to Big Eddie...........bitter looser.

4. I noticed Ed doing that too.
I thought it was because he has something going with CNN.

2. Great show tonight... she said words to the effect
that the attacks at the repuke convention may have been descibed as stretching the truth (guess the AP said that) that they (Countdown) was going to go out on a limb and call the attaches lies, just what they are - and those that repeat them as lying.

10. I sure hope she keeps up this level of frankness about politicians on her own show, starting
Monday.

I wonder from how far up the GE chain of command will come the phone calls Rachel can expect, inquiring about her choice of words tonight.

And I wonder whether Campbell Brown will follow Rachel's example of candor in hopes of getting HER own show on CNN.

17. Thanks

My mom (a devoted KO fan for years) loves Rachel. So do I. I wondered why we didn't get more of her from St. Paul.

18. Did you find that arument convincing? I didn't. The schedule was tight in Denver, too
but the "pundits" on CNN and MSNBC talked right over John Kerry and other key speakers.

Maybe there were just more pundits in Denver to squeeze onto the air, and they just had more pre-set notions with which to tear down the Democrats?

19. I Agree
they talked over the Dems while they gave their speeches/ didn't to the rethugs. It was pretty obvious.

Countdown piggy-backed by Rachel. Great start. Next step, Scarborough or Matthews replacement.

14. It'd be nice if the candidates had the fortitude to do that
or start saturatiing the airwaves with hard hitting ads.

Apparently, they're content to give McCain and Palin a pass- just as they did all summer.

21. Thanks Dudley..It's heartening to know
Rachel is on the job..geeze, we sure didn't have anything like her or KO for Kerry in 2004, did we?

john mccain is such a dumpy little liar who belongs in a Gangster B movie..not given the status to run as pres against Obama Biden.

20. Does anybody have a text transcript or closed caption capture of Rachel's "LYING" segment?
Depending on the DVR software your using and your software settings, you may have a closed-caption capture and not even know it!
