If no one asks "Can a working dad be vice president"
then it is ridiculous to ask the opposite.

1. John Edwards was hammered
over running for President with his wife fighting cancer.

Sarah has a special needs child.

IMO both are off limits but both are questioned, no sexism involved.

3. One thing that should be on the table though
is the fact that Palin cut the special education budget for Alaska by 60%.

Another should be that she would take away a woman's right to choose as she points to her own child as someone others would have aborted. Meanwhile I don't doubt she would cut programs that would make taking care of such a child easier. Not everyone has your ways and means, Gov. Palin.

She also cut funding for unwed mothers, I hear.

She can do what she wants as a mother. That's not my business. But when she holds herself up as some sort of shining example while offering little or no support to the people she is an example OF, there's a problem.

Did I even say that right?

6. Agreed - but a candidate who lists as one of her qualifications "mother of five" leaves herself open
to this.

We don't see Barack Obama billed as "U.S. Senator, father of two, former state legislator." We don't see Hillary Clinton billed as "U.S. Senator, mother of one, former First Lady." We don't see John McCain billed as "U.S. Senator, father of five, former POW." Yes, their family is included in their bios, but it is not highlighted as a major qualification. On the other hand, Palin has put her motherhood out there as a major criteria for her supposed fitness for the vice presidency, so it should come as no surprise if anyone raises questions about it.
