Her supposedly glorious convention speech was cobbled-together cheap shots and a shameless attempt to link herself to Harry Truman. Sarah Palin, who wants the market to set health care costs, wants to associate herself with the late Harry Truman, who proposed a national health insurance program? No, thank you.

One of Palin's press releases contained the following quote: "...health care must be market-and business-driven..." Uh, what about human need?

Here's Truman's address, and note that it's a lot more pro-life than anything we heard at the Republican convention. And no, declaring yourself a believer in the sanctity of life doesn't count. Human beings came up with the market and with health insurance, and we have the obligation to adjust it to cover everyone.

If Truman was able to survive low approval ratings and "To err is Truman" and the like, Sarah Palin ought to be able to survive a few unflattering monikers. She can't play attack dog and victim at the same time.
