Obama, seeing hope in Ohio, shifts schedule there
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/washington/AP-Obama-Strategy.html

(snip)
Barack Obama's strategists say they will pick and choose where to spend time and money. Sure, the presidential candidate is spending time in previously-Republican Indiana and North Carolina, but the true focus is going to be areas where he simply must win.

Despite early optimism, Obama's strategists are mapping out an electoral plan similar to Democrat John Kerry's from 2004, with a few tweaks. Obama still is pushing into traditionally Republican and rural areas, such as this farm region along the Ohio River. But don't look for the Democratic presidential nominee in, say, undeniably GOP Idaho.

(snip)
The campaign is quietly eyeing a states' map similar to the one used in past elections, with some exceptions. Obama this week dropped advertising in Georgia, a traditionally Republican state that he considered winnable based on increased voter registration among blacks and young people.

(snip)
The updated plan puts Ohio and its neighbors back at the top of the list. And for good reason.

Lots of new voters registered for the state's March primary, and Democrats now enjoy a 900,000-person advantage on state voter rolls. Pennsylvania favors Obama by a million registered Democrats. Michigan doesn't register by political party.

1. I'm seeing ads in the central Arkansas market, too.
Do they buy ads on cable networks by local market or nationwide?

4. I don't know, but I wish they would hit Florida a bit harder...
I don't normally watch local TV, but I did today, and for every 3 McAss commercials, there was one Obama. And, they(Obama's) didn't start until the "dinner hour"...

I think he has a good chance of winning Florida if he beefs up the ads. People are fed up here.

5. Is Georgia full of fundies who would fall for Palin?
I wouldn't doubt it. The South is full of ignorant people who regularly vote against their own interests.

OTOH, Obama may time his ad buys strategically.

6. Georgia was never in play

in my view.

Lets face it...If we take George then we probably would take 37-40 states overall. Not happening.

8. But it is smart to make McCain play defense in states like Georgia.
The more resources McSame has to use to keep Georgia in his column, the less he has in his pocket for the other battlegrounds.

10. Diebold Owns the Vote in Georgia
Every single vote in Georgia is counted on Diebold Repiglickin' Electin' Machinez!
The Repiggies can't lose there.
Ask former Senator Cleland or former Governor Barnes about their double-digit leads going into the 2002 elections.

3. Didn't realize he pulled out of Georgia
That's a bummer. I wonder if their fundraising is not as strong as they had expected...I read that that was the case a few other places. It's too early for him to be pulling out of states.

7. Anybody know if Nader made it on the ballot in Ohio?
I know he submitted signatures. I'm a little concerned because recent polling shows Obama wins Ohio without Nader on the ballot and loses by 2 points if he is. I'm kinda busy and don't have time for Nader to get on my last nerve right now.
