Wow McCain and Palin are totally programmed with chips..
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 09:18 PM by Wetzelbill
I'm watching their remarks today while campaigning, both did nearly verbatim bits from their campaign speeches. Nothing different. Same thing, no policy. She then read from a paper a few lines about Obama saying the surge worked on the Billo The Clown Hour. It was nonsensical too.

The it cut to Obama on the trail, taking a few questions and giving a speech off the cuff, different than his campaign speech. Hitting on certain things that he always had, but he delivered it off the top of his head and naturally. McCain and Palin sounded like they just flipped the Queen of Hearts.

1. Plastic, programmed "flat daddy" candidates
just like that phony convention full of actors and professionally created "homemade" signs.

this is like that startrek where the leader is a hollow shell hopped up on drugs for TV.

4. Palin could beat Biden
She's cute and she's very clever; she doesn't mind lying and when she gets caught will play the innocent victim quite well; she throws out one liners that the stupid eat up

I HATE her!

5. Only if Hannity is the moderator...
Joe is all of those things too (minus the lying and playing the victim, but with the added bonus of actual knowledge)...

IMHO

7. one thing she has in her favor
Is the media is going to say that she exceeded expectations no matter what. Republicans lower the expectations so much that if she just shows up and doesn't trip, fall, and then drool all over herself for an hour then she'll have a win. Plus everyone expects Biden to stomp her. He has nowhere to go but down in that dept.

The good thing is that despite what the immediate spin is, people often know what they see and hear, and if she just offers up more of the same, which it looks like she will, it won't resonate so much.

3. This can't work in the long run.
It just can't. If it does, it's not even the media's fault. It will have proved that our electorate has the collective IQ of burnt toast and our democracy is completely broken.

6. It's persona more than issues
That's why they are mythologizing Palin into something she isn't and playing up some of McCain's legit qualities or former qualities and his war service into near superhuman status.

Problem is, Obama has some serious charisma. And Biden is damn good as a regular Joe type, because he mainly is. Check out those Biden vids in the Political Videos section, he is right in his element. In the end, if Dems can compete in the persona dept, and it looks like they can, if not win, then they will win the election.

If this or any other election was about issues or policy, Bush and Reagan and half the Republican party would never have laced up their boots to run for office in the first place. As messed up as it is, there is some viability to the "Who would you rather have a beer with" bullshit. Mostly because the media like to cover the campaign, as opposed to records or policies.
