The one crucial mistake that Joe Biden cannot make when he debates Shallow Gal
I love Biden. I love his personality, his toughness, his humor, and his style. Having said that, I was told by someone who has attended a couple dinner functions in DC where Joe was present that Joe has occasionally been known to be a little on the flirty side when it comes to pretty women, even though he only does it in a harmless way.

When he debates Palin, he cannot come up with a single line that comes off in any way as being flirtatious with her and he can't make any type of comment about her looks. The Republican Rovians are hoping Biden makes even the slightest remark that points out Palin's good looks, and we cannot afford to have this happen for obvious reasons.

When Joe debates that shallow asshole and looks across the stage at her, he needs to imagine that he's looking at Barbara Bush. He can't make a single slip.

1. I hope he shows her what a real pit bull can do ... sans lipstick ...
and then, after she "breaks down and cries" (for the "you attacked a GIRL!" sympathy vote), turns to the audience and says - "Remember when they said that Hillary would hide behind the apron strings when the going gets tough???"

2. True, but I don't think he'd do that.
He needs to not underestimate her, and not be condescending to either her or the audience. He just needs to casually demonstrate his competence, grasp of the issues and how he and Obama will address them... and that alone will speak volumes about her lack of same. Personally, I think the McGramps camp is going to back out of the VP Debate, but even if it's held Biden will do fine.

3. Excellent post....
I too love Joe, but he's already stepped in this one with his "she's good-looking" joke. Clearly he meant the joke to be self-depreciating, but look how quickly the "We just discovered how to deflect criticism of Palin by crying 'sexism'" crowd jumped on it.

5. Good looks?
I just don't get it. Maybe it's because I'm from California, where even the average fifty year old woman looks better than her by far, but really....I am flummoxed, and I don't flummox easily.
