I think her facade will not last very long.

And if that's true, McSame is headed for a severe ass-kicking. Big time landslide. Better than 100 EV win for the good guys.

1. Go to the supermarket and check out the tabloids.
You'll have to ignore the Michelle vs. Oprah headline on one and the Michelle vs. Cindy on the other.

But Palin's personal life are ALL over them. NOT pretty!

10. The best possible coverage. Short of faux where do the fundies get most of their info? I would
imagine it's the tabloids. They're certainly going to see them while they're at the grocery store. I mean if we're going to get the word of failin' and mcangry's many failings they(tabloids) have a much better shot than DU, NPR, The Nation, MoJo, AAR, etc...

2. IMO, their plan is to concretize their base, first & foremost, then buy, cheat, and steal

a "win" if they can, and if they can't win then they'll use their newly enlarged and hardened base to fight Universal Health Care, alternative energy development, environmental policy, and pro-Labor policies, which, whether they suceed or not in preventing these reforms, will further harden their base, with the ultimate objective of being able to offer to what remains of their candidates and office-holders an absolutely guaranteed block of votes, not to mention using those same vote-slaves as bait to make deals with dis-affected re-crossovers in 2012/16.

Party building is the only thing that makes sense of such an insane VP pick.

3. "newly enlarged and hardened base"?
Hardened, maybe, but not permanently if Palin blows up, which will demoralize them all over again as a result of the inevitable landslide.

But enlarged? How do you figure that?

7. There are more reasons that say the Republican Party will shrink, not grow.
1. Demographics. It's become a white party, and the country is becoming less white.

2. Bush disaster residual. It's going to take a long time for the country to forgive the Republican Party for Bush/Cheney.

Basically, I don't see anything that will change the trend in party affiliation currently favoring Democrats.

8. All things change. They would have to get awfully small and POOR to be completely ir-relevant,
as long as they have resource$$$$$$$ and a chance at achieving critical mass, there will be those looking to deal for power; any success at all will give them something to build back on.

I talked recently to a couple of deep pocket crossovers around our governor, when I asked them about their fundie radicals they didn't seemed nearly as bothered about them as we are, both of them told me that it is about nothing but acquiring and using power. Do you really think all of those old long-standing relationships will end? As long as people can be triangulated, I think not.

This thing most definitely will not be over after the GE, maybe NEVER.

6. Losing either "kills" you are makes you harder, more determined.
Some will go away, but if they pick up enough to begin with, the net could be positive.

That's why I think we've got to be sure that they don't just lose, but that they are absolutely and utterly demoralized and confused about who they are, which means we have to deconstruct their assumptions.

4. They seem to stiffen up a little when their integrity is questioned.
Even by their masters.
