How many presidential elections have tried to stop a legal investigation of a candidate?
As soon as the VP candidate is announced it's revealed that she is the current subject of a corruption investigation.

A Republican team has to rush off and prevent a legal investigation in order to have a chance at winning the election.

Talk about corruption.

Maybe skeletons have popped out at the last minute in previous elections, I don't really know, but how many times has a current suspect of an open criminal investigation been invited to be the number two in a presidential campaign?

It's absolutely insane that these people are viable competitors.

country that could tell the truth freely and without political and economic consequence the repukes would never have gained power in the first place.

Every single repuke scandal has been covered up, excused, made light of, or dismissed out of hand, and it looks like this one will be as well.

No Democrat who was the target of a criminal investigation could ever be nominated for President. He or she would be driven from the race by endless, relentless media coverage. Think Larry Craig would still be sitting in the Senate if he had a D after his name? Not a chance. Imagine a Democratic actor running for governor of California who was a known womanizer and sexual harrasser and whose full frontal nude photos were readily available on the internet. Think he would have had a prayer of a chance of winning? Not after the corporate whores were done with him.

The double standard is just astounding and our Democratic politicians have done a piss poor job of pointing it out when they do get some tv face time. Yes, Obama and Biden should focus on the issues. But they need to remind people that Palin is under criminal investigation. That point needs to be hammered hard by Biden when he debates her (if she doesn't chicken out).

The gloves need to come off and if the press refuses to do its job, the Dems have to take up the mantle.
