1. = Karl Rove = Mission Accomplished
The job of Palin was to get Obama's amazing speech and the Dem Convention out of people's minds. He did it.

4. No. Not really
I doubt he thought it would work this well. But the job of the planners of the convention that goes second is to get the people's mind off th previous convention. And in this case it was definitely a case of following on the footsteps of the DNC close behind in order to minimize the impact. Palin was not McSame's first pick. She was (or a fundamentalist of some breed was) forced on him by the GOP. The intent was to sway the religious right and hopefully pick off a few PUMAs. The hope was that whoever was picked would be dynamic enough to become the talk of the town rather than Obama continuing to be the talk.

It worked better than they had hoped. But clearing our heads of Obama was the intent.

3. Palin/McCain
Yes, they seem more interested in Palin. I think they are secretly hoping McCain doesn't last too much longer...just long enough to get into the White House and then Palin gets sworn in as president asap. The hard core RW lost their main stars in the primaries and know that McCain can be too left leaning for their liking. That's why Palin was pushed on him...not to be the VP but to be in place when this old man dies soon after being elected. I'm no longer afraid of what McCain will do in the White House...I'm scared too death of Palin. She is THE issue...the real deal...and we'd better admit that and start fighting. The ticket for all practical purposes is Palin/McCain.

9. A trick I learned from a fellow DUer
I don't know where the original thread is, but someone mentioned using http://trends.google.com/ to track what is currently going on with the public. Check out the following link:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=palin%2C+biden%2C+mccain%2C+obama&ctab=0&geo=all&date=mtd&sort=0

I guess it sorta backs up what you're saying. At first, I thought that the results seemed logical given that Palin is a relative unknown, but that doesn't explain why Biden is the lowest, even lower than Obama.

10. That;s because Biden isn't the "lowest"...that's a distortion. aka Lie.
you can always find numbers to back up your assertion of the day...IMO.

12. I don't really have an assertion
other than that google trends shows that, overall, Palin is most searched for, followed by Obama, McCain, and Biden, in that order. What I was trying to point out was that I have no idea WHY they are ranked in that order. And I CERTAINLY wasn't trying to distort or lie about anything.

11. Jesus, if I can use that word here
Take a minute to analyze your data. In the US more people are searching Obama than any other of the four. Palin is second.

It stands to reasons that internationally people would want to get caught up on who this new American political figure is.

13. That DOES stand to reason, IMO, however
what I can't understand is why McCain is getting more searches than Biden, unless I'm reading it wrong. They're BOTH well-established politicians who seem to be pretty well-known among the populace, and it doesn't seem that there would be that many people googling McCain, IMO. If anything, it seems to me that it should be the other way around.

14. Palin is going to die down... short shelf life...
.. as soon as we get thru this weekend news cycle. I think people are just venting on Palin... and it has solidified Obama's lead. Biden made some EXCELLANT speeches on Friday. He will kick her ass.. it's not even a contest. Of course this coming week.. the media is going to be all HURRICANE all the time.. but Obama is playing his cards just right. BTW.. if you havent seen the Michael Moore interview on Larry King.. its a must see...
