How about this for a ballsy idea for Obama....

Barack should hold a town hall meeting...

...in Wasilla, Alaska.

And don't screen the questions.

THAT would be political theater.

2. Self-kicking..... because I'm serious about this.......

I think it would be GREAT.

A) Would show that Obama wants to be president of ALL Americans.

B) Would generate at least 3 news cycles of buzz

C) What would McCain do in response? A town hall in Hawaii? LOL

D) It would drive conservatives bonkers, especially when a couple Wasilla residents talk about how bad she was as a mayor - leaving their city 22 million in debt

E) If some of the questions come from people who are fans of Palin, then all the better. When Obama, as is his way, keeps his cool and answers the questions.... he will come off looking EXTREMELY PRESIDENTIAL.

F) It would seem VERY brave, but in effect... it would be a win-win for him.

3. If he can handle and keep his cool with O'Reilly
a rude simpleton whose show is more akin to pro wrestling than anything newsworthy, than he'd be fine with the residents of Wasilla.

5. That is hard to say
That would depend somewhat on McCain's moves too. Left alone, yes he would get a few days of the news cycle, probably 3-4 as you say, however McCain's campaign is good for one thing, and that's winning a news cyle, it's all he has. They've made it a point to pull out some tabloid stunt like his ads or whatever or picking Palin when he did. So I think Obama would get plenty of coverage, but there is always the chance McCain's campaign would come up with something trashy to steal some spotlight. They aren't bad at it.

Talk to the press?

16. Another crazy ad or something
Remember, the press has a fixation with reporting one side and then the other, no matter what. Even while Obama was overseas, the press was already saying he didn't get a bump from his trip. McCain immediately countered with the celebrity ads. The faux Ramstein scandal. If Obama was in Wasilla, if I was McCain, I would create an outlandishly lying bullshit ad with Palin that took something totally out of context, like say his "Clinging to religion and guns" statement. I'd put her in the ad saying something like "Barack Obama thinks he knows Wasilla. But he doesn't know anything about small-towns. He believes you all "cling to guns and religion". He talks to regular folks one way, but in San Francisco, he'll say something else. John McCain never will." Then McCain will approve the message and all the McCain loving shills will throw it on television and talk about it.

Will it win the cycle? Maybe not. But it puts a dent in the Wasilla visit a little bit. Never forget how cheap and petty these people are, and never forget that the media will always frame everything from the Right. If I was a McCain strategist as soon as Obama announced his trip I'd portray him as a snooty king pretending he's going to go hang out with the little people.. The media will eat it up.

9. I think it would show that many people that support her
do so out of fear, and because of the fact that they have a nice check in their bank because of Palin's "negotiations" with the big-oil execs.

If Obama can hold his own with Billo, he will be fine in AK, and plus it might be a chance to push some anger out of some racist locals and catch it on camera, I mean, a black man running for POTUS holding a town-hall meeting in Wassila!?? I'm not sure the locals would know how to handle themselves. Some stealth mic placements might be able to pick up some slurs to show the true colors of this city.

He mentioned off the cuff in a appearance last week that he needs to get up to AK. Not sure how serious he was, but I think it could play in his favor.

11. Sounds good.
I just hope the M$M wouldn't simply frame this is some kind of publicity stunt. I guess some stations will and some will not. One thing for sure, it would be a headline grabber.

13. Not only Wasilla though.
He should tour all of Alaska. Anchorage, Fairbanks, Wasilla, Juneau... To go to Wasilla alone would look too much like a stunt, maybe a little bit antagonistic. But as part of an Alaskan tour? Shit, he should kick that off tomorrow.

15. The Republicans would pack the place. And it's only 3 electoral votes. He'd do better
spending another day in Pennyslvania. We don't need theater. We need a win in November.
