Didn't anyone catch Michael Moore on Larry King Live? |
|

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x182964CNN is considerably more balanced than... Cafferty? MSNBC has Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. Offset by Scarborough (Morning Joe in general) & Race for the Whitehouse (in general)

to use the wrong wrench! You don't have to turn into a Dem. You don't even have to like them! Just stop trying the wrench that's not working for you!

Really unexpected. He did a great job making the case for change with Obama.

His initial answer was basically "No". But then Larry pushed the point, citing polls showing people would, and mm's response, with my clumsy paraphrase was "who would do that? Are they Americans? Are they Christians? are they Muslims?". With the clear implication that anyone who would refuse to vote for Obama based on race is not living their values, but in a "who would do that" form that expected the best of people.
I really appreciated how he didn't spell it out or explain or do anything to blunt the impact of it. Just Bam between the eyes for anyone who is willing to go against everything that their country or religion is supposed to be about.
In my opinion that is where that conversation should be. Who doesn't know there is racism in Georgia? So why do the pundits need to bloviate on what impact that will have. Instead we should be at the point of socially marginalizing those attitudes, treating them as the trash they are, not just tacitly accepting them as what is and will be.

I've always thought CNN to be fairly well balanced & wondered why so many DUers thought otherwise. Don't know why they keep Lou Dobbs though. He's been off the deep end since the Augusta National sexism suit, LOL.
Love Roland Martin, David Gergen et al (contributors).

I can't take blatant slant like Olbermann and Maddow. It may favor my side but it doesn't threaten a calm even approach and frankly I think it lacks class. Right wingers despise Michael Moore, but he has a whimsical soft spoken manner and can make a more effective point with fewer words and less effort. Let's put it this way, I can predict everything Olbermann and Maddow will ever say. Just wind them up. But Moore comes up with unique stuff like the wrench analogy. He's simply more talented.

people who put KO on some "similar but opposite" plane with the likes of Glenn Beck.
KO deals in FACT. F A C T. And, 90% of the time intelletual honesty.
A COMPLETELY different thing than that out and out lies the R propogandists spew, the intellectually corrupt, historically disproportionate bullspit they advance.
KO goes over the edge every now and then, but these scumbags are over the edge ALL the time.
Fact is, there is a NEVER ENDIND STREAM of truly outrageous nonsense that can be justifiably used to smash republicans with. IF the media actually did its job, KO would not have a job.

23. IMO, KO and RM are doing what all the other reporters SHOULD BE doing |
|
When a politician or surrogate sits in front of you and spews lies, whether Dem or GOP, the journalist should stop them right then and there and say, nope, that's just not true. Look at how uninformed Faux viewers are specifically because they watch Faux news. That's part of the friggin' problem with out country—most journalists have lost their spines and the others tell straight out lies and then we have a handful that are vocal and honest and then they get slammed for telling the truth and doing it loudly. That's right they do it LOUDLY because there's no other way to be heard above the din.
What did McShame say about the Vet during his RNC speech, what he said was "static or background noise?" (paraphrase)
I say we need more Keith's and Rachel's in the world that way people won't be so shocked when they hear the truth.

And I really liked what he had to say. It's a shame he's become such a punching bag for the right...his message was effective, but I am not sure how much credibility he has with "lunch bucket Democrats" even though he comes from their world. Kind of sad how he's been villified.
