An odd fact, uncovered by TPM’s Greg Sargent, is that the school actually served as the backdrop for Matt Santos’ announcement of his presidential candidacy on The West Wing. Not really sure what to make of that, but it is quite an odd coincidence in any case.

1:58 VIDEO of the Santos announcement here

5. I have done google image searches and I can FIND the middle school
"Walter reed" has no image of the school in the first 12 pages that I can see

Yes someone almost HAD to plant that either that or the millions of dollars that went into that was poorly spent...gee doesn't that sound familiar?

6. You don't think it was deliberate?
I find this hardly co-incidental. Republicans tend to like beautiful images of power, and I fully expect they would borrow from a TV show to make McCain look presidential.

7. Repubs like how Hollywood portrays heroism
I think that this was planned on the part of the McCain campaign: to borrow images of leadership and heroism that are already in the media, that already resonate with the public. And if they can't find them, they make them (like the manufactured footage of a soldier's funeral).

He covers this topic, probably too long truth be told, in this book. Particularly the John Wayne imagery and the real story of Marion Morrison his draft dodging, war (film) profiteering while everyone else was fighting the war, and his John Birch Society politics.

Not an earthshattering book but the detailing of how Politico basically serves and was created to be a conduit for the Druge report into the main stream media is noteworthy.

9. Aha! They didn't grab the wrong Walter Reed, they were doing a subliminal
for all the fans of The West Wing. Fiendish devils.
