Need Ideas & Help Getting Involved!
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 08:37 AM by bleuvixen
Here is what I have to offer as far as support/resources.

I (along with, well mostly, my husband Mike) Run a small printing/design company in Martin County, FL (A VERY blue county of florida) we have all in-house (our house) machinery, including:

a full-color Xanté digital press, supports 3"x3" up to 12" x 18" printing and anything from plain paper, sticker material, to ultra heavy card stock.
a full size cutter (can cut printer paper down to any size)
a drill press for cutting holes in paper (to tie ribbons, bound materials? etc...)
a shrink wrap machine (to make bundles, packages, etc.) (good for returning stuff at stores to HAHa... umm just kidding ;)
Both Mac & PC Computers (Mac is Brand New) with all software and hardware for design work)

Anyway, I have tried reaching out to my.barackobama (Martin County Group) but it is not very active and I have had no response (maybe I have nothing to offer? let me know)

I have also tried phone banking, did a bunch of calls, but I don't feel I comfortable not being 100% up on issues and not being a great representation of Obama.

I can do, printing/postcard/etc. mail them to people who can label or you give me a mailing list.
I can print posters, stickers (not waterproof ones)
I can do design work, (not madison avenue, but I can hit it out of the park sometimes)
I also do computer repair (mac & PC) which I am going to do right now.... so I will BE BACK IN A FEW HOURS.

I appreciate anyone who wants to get involved with me, or point me in a direction to head in!

THANK YOU!

1. I am PMing you I don't have a use for printing but digital design is good and
my team of eight so far is targeting South West Ohio digitally.

I agree with you on phone banking. You are bothering people who did not choose to have their phone ring.

Digital eyeballs unless we're talking spam choose to be exposing themselves to the info by clicking on the link.

2. I would say phone banking is your best bet.
Being in a blue county, you can use your phone minutes to outreach into swing counties. You don't need to be 100% up on issues, and the campaign really needs phonebankers. You might even consider organizing your own local phonebank via my.barackobama.com -- this is fun and will give other locals a chance to act as well. Also it means you can share ideas about how to handle calls.

You also might consider looking for a local campaign to get involved with. I am a campaign manager for a local campaign and we sure could use someone like you in our area! Also, local campaigns have way less people because everyone's getting involved with the presidential race -- so we need you more! :)

4. thanks...
I will try some more... I was hoping to send out some personalized postcards or something here local, I certainly have access to many mailing lists, but don't want to just up and do something on my own. Anyways thanks for your encouragement :)

5. We need some fun posters
Something of Michelle and the kids, Biden and Obama, stuff like that. Maybe we could make some 18 x 24 by taping two halves together. Just 3-4 to put on our walls. We could mail those in a flat envelope, couldn't we? I'm in Oregon. I can pay, I just didn't want to pay like $20 a piece for them at the local copy shop.

7. TODAYS PROJECT
I am mailing my entire neighborhood today (just got the mailing list) I did a sweet postcard and I am listing WHY my family is voting for Obama. I also put my number if anyone needs a ride to the booth come November. (A lot of elderly in this neighborhood)
