Why did McCain campaign lie about Cindy's injury?
Remember how they said that Cindy had suffered a simple sprain of her hand/wrist from an "over enthusiastic supporter shaking her hand"? Well, at the time that they said that I thought that they were lying because it looked like they had set her arm in a soft cast, that is splinted and bandaged heavily until the swelling can go down before they put it in a hard cast.

Watching the footage from yesterday's McCain campaign rally Cindy was wearing a bright pink hard cast.

Why did they lie?

5. And most of the reasons have to do with avoiding touching the hands of the GOP base
I think the conversation went something like this...

"John my little POW, I am just not going to let them touch me anymore. You may need them but they make my skin crawl."

"Yes, dear you don't have to be a C@#$ about it."

12. No, this was a "classic" fiberglass cast used for a fracture
I've been looking for a still shot from yesterday, but can't find one.

6. I seriously think that this is a possibility
The injury occurred as it was being discussed in the media about McCain's first marriage and a bit about his infidelities. It is classic abusive behavior for the abuser to blame someone else for his actions, and I have seen many a cheater like him blame the woman that he cheated with for the social fallout of his behavior.

20. I didn't want to say that, but I thought how vulnerable a woman's wrist is to being twisted hard...
However, considering his own old injuries, I don't know how much arm-strength he actually has. His well-known temper, though...

Whatever the reason, I think the speculation about her not wanting to touch others is unkind and unnecessary. She has an injury.

9. I don't even think that her back went out lifting a kid... There are classic
signs of this.. She didn't move to Washington, prefering her weeks alone to be alone without him. When he hit the door, she walked out the other side to get out of the way. AND she owns multiple homes to escape to. Lord knows why she stays with him?

19. Exactly. I do conventions every year and I've switched to the terrorist fist jab because I can't
take the all-day glad-handling. Eventually someone squeezes too hard and my hand is wrecked.

And rooted in history.
