One of the memes the McCain Machine is spreading around is that John McCain is a selfless public servant.

Maybe he is a public servant. And, to give where credit is due, he has dedicated his career to public service rather than the Corporate Teat.

BUT one can;t really say he has made great sacrifices in his post-military career. Perhaps it was all due to marrying up -- in an economic sense.

But a guy with nine houses? Hardly a life of modest means. How many people would spend more time to "service than a cause greater then ourselves" if we didn't have to worry about paying the basic bills on just one humble domicile, and could face the dilemma of which of our houses we plan to spend the weekend at?

It's not like Obama or Biden, who may not be paupers, but who certainly have made sacrifices for public service rather than follow the path to riches.
