My LTTE advocating for Barack Obama:
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 10:35 AM by debbierlus
I went to Obama's site today and I saw the LTTE feature. So, I figured I haven't written one in quite a while. I decided that since Obama is setting his sites on McCain and ignoring the Palin circus, I would follow his lead. Here is the letter:

After nearly eight devastating years of the Bush administration, it is incredible that the media continues to allow the same right wing talking points to mask as actual political dialogue. The same Rovian Crew who brought you the myth of George W Bush, the Renegade Cowboy; Now brings you, John McCain, the Maverick, Foreign Policy Expert, and Agent of Change. HA!

First, let's address the claim of John McCain the Maverick & Agent of Change. According to Congressional Quarterly, John McCain has voted in line with George W Bush 90% of the time. In 2007, he voted with George W Bush 95% of the time. And, in 2008, he voted with George W Bush, 100% of the time. The truth is he has NOT bucked Bush's policies, but embraced them again and again with his vote. In addition, with the economy in the worst shape in decades, and families struggling to meet expenses for basic survival, McCain's economic policies mirror the failed Bush polices that have brought the highest deficit in American history. Tax cuts for the wealtiest Americans. Loop holes for major corporations to create off-shore tax havens to avoid paying their fair share. Barack Obama on the other hand has co-sponsored S-681, the Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act which would help stop this unethical practice and give billions back to the US economy. John McCain? He supports actually decreasing corporate tax rates.

Let's move on to the myth of McCain as foreign policy expert. John McCain was one of the biggest cheerleaders for preemptive war on Iraq. A war that most Americans now understand as a grave mistake that has bankrupted our treasury, and stretched our military to the breaking point. Barack Obama, on the other hand, was against the invasion of Iraq from the beginning. Obama understood that Iraq was not the central front on the war on terror, and he knew an Iraqi invasion would divert resources from the real fight. And, he was right. Osama Bin Laden remains at large. And, according to a April 30, 2008 AP article: "Al-Qaeda has rebuilt some of its pre-Sept. 11 capabilities from remote hiding places in Pakistan, and terrorist attacks in neighboring Afghanistan increased 16% last year". The bottom line, John McCain was whole-heartedly for the invasion of Iraq and he was dead wrong at the expense of over 4000 American soldiers lives and hundreds of billions of tax payer dollars. Barack Obama saw the Iraq invasion for the mistake it was from day 1. Who's the foreign policy expert?

John McCain represents nothing but the continuation of failed and unethical policies of the Bush administration. He is not an agent of change. He is not a maverick. He is a myth. Don't allow the Rovian machine to deceive you, yet again.
