7 KEY Witnesses In Troopergate-Had Depositions CANCELLED In The Last 72 Hours
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 02:39 PM by kpete
Lawyers, Troopergate, and Questions
By Reed Hundt - September 6, 2008, 7:05AM

"This week, seven key witnesses informed Mr. Branchflower through their attorneys that they would not provide depositions. Their depositions, which had been agreed to and scheduled earlier with Mr. Branchflower, were cancelled within the last 72 hours."

So isn't there anyone with investigatory power, or even just lawyerly or reportorial skills, who could inquire into exactly how all these witnesses to "troopergate" happened to obtain lawyers and then all follow the exact same tactic in the same 72 hours? Who are their lawyers; who is paying their lawyers? And many other questions that follow.

2. I forget who it was, but a wellknown person who guested on Ed Schultz the other day has the answer:
the people who went up to Alaska for McCain to 'vet' her went up there to SHUT people up, via promises of lucre to come, or with threats of reprisal. it's that simple

there can be no vetting after the fact of her nomination. what's the point? the deal is done. no turning back on the choice

all they can do now is try to silence the critics, who are myriad

5. I heard that too
He said they will go talk to these people and say, "Hey, would you like a job in this administration or maybe be an ambassador somewhere really neat?" "Just cooperate with us and it's yours." Dangle that carrot because it works. Man, I hate these bastards.
Is this IMPEDING an investigation? Is this ILLEGAL?
Silly me....when has that ever been a problem for these thugs?

4. Gotta give credit to Repubs...they want to win and i hate to say it, but even more than democrats
So i am guessing it was likely Palin would have been proven that she misused her powers but now with this new revelation it is unlikely since the remaining witnesses (if any) will be ones who dont have enough details or favor Palin in not doing wrong. Not good

9. The US repukes don't mind fascism but that's not to say they
want to win this thing more than our Democrats. You'd have to be here to realize how much we want to win and are going to..we just don't have to suppress evidence.

and already have and they get away with it. You really want to complain that the Dem party doesn't have the juice or the immorality to ruin and kill people?

18. The investigator Hollis French has said subpoenas will be issued to those witnesses
According to the article I read, McCain's team of lawyers have joined her lawyer to interview the witness list
(and no doubt issued threats).

24. It might be for the purpose of requiring subpoenas.
With the administrative board also in play, they may be making sure that their tails are covered in some way.

Two complaints there, and that pretty much covers French's investigation. Three Murkowski appointees on the board, one of which was reappoined by Palin.

38. Thankfully,
and may it continue, I've been lucky enough to not be involved in the justice system. When you are called to a deposition, don't you *have* to go? Isn't it similar to being called before a jury - you tell the truth or you are guilty of perjury?
