I have to say, I'm thrilled with "The Republicans must think you're stupid."
This has to be the first time one of our candidates has ever said this so plainly. It's an attention getter, and it serves notice to the other side that we will bluntly call them on their bullshit.

I also like it because it's risky. There are still a lot of people on the fence, so they could conceivably be offended for even thinking about voting Republican when they hear such a line, but Barack is also telling such people to wake the fuck up, listen to what they are being told and think about whether it makes sense or not. And I thank him for that.

To me, "Republicans must think you're stupid" tells me Barack is feeling the urgency of getting into the heads of the fence-sitters before it's too late. It's also good to get a line out there well before the debates start and before the polls start to gyrate; something like that might sound like sour grapes if it's used when you're in a tight spot.

Well played by the Obama campaign.

1. I liked it, too.
And love the restraint he uses so that when he says something like this, it sticks out.

6. Oh noes!
Obama said something bad about the Republicans! What are they going to do to us now? Are they going to call us a bad name again? We cannot ever possibly win when our candidate shows such blatant disregard for common decorum. We are screwn! Oh noes! Concern! Concern!

:sarcasm:

7. I like it too
That and Biden's "what else can you talk about after eight years of failure" line.

I love our guys. They are so damn smart and they're doing such a good job of expressing outrage in terms that aren't off-putting, just catchy.

8. That soooooooooo needs to be an ad!
And the "they can't just make stuff up" comment.

I say they let The Daily Show people do their ads. They put everything out there beautifully and clearly, all the hypocrisy and lies.

I'm totally pro-aggressive tactics, aggressive talk.

We need to kick their asses.

14. I agree. Normally, I'm all for positive campaigning, and if this
one weren't so DAMNED IMPORTANT, I'd say stick to it and keep above the fray. But now??? After the shit they promoted at that little cult gathering in St. Paul this past week????
Knock 'em to the curb and keep kicking 'em when they're down.
I want to see these people electorally annihilated.

16. I also like the way he comes off as speaking directly to the people
And to all of them. Whereas the right is always talking about some sector of the people who are in their mind not to be included - the liberals, or whatever.

17. This ticket is raising the nation's collective IQ just by campaigning!
It's brilliant; the fence-sitters won't want to think of themselves as stupid as you say.

19. I liked it too.
It sounded strong and called the reps out on their BS. It also re-emphasized the message that this campaign is about issues and that the citizens are smart enough and engaged enough in the process to understand that. He is raising the expectations of the average voter for themselves and I think that is a good thing. The reps are still trying to exploit and manipulate. Can't blame them. They have no ideas or accomplishments to run on, so that leaves wedge issues and candidate narratives.

21. That is the problem with a lot of people..
they love to hear the phony bullshit talk they want you to say it in a certain way and one the things I have hated about the Dems is the fact that they wouldn't say Bush was lying when they knew for a fact he was. They would beat around the bush...

23. My preference... given we want to build the narrative of Palin as a truth-challenged ...
... and her image and record as having been manufactured.
"I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up."
