Community Organizers, volunteers, and others - make them apologize
I received this e-mail and passing it along - it's time we make them apologize:

We were appalled last night as we listened to speaker after speaker at the Republican Convention demean the fine work of community organizers. It was insulting to the people, young and old, who work to better our nation, starting in their own backyard.

We are proud to be community organizers and we are proud that a community organizer might be our next president. We honor the work of community organizers, and we urge you to join us in honoring them.

If you appreciate the tireless and sometimes thankless work of these agents of democracy, please do two things:

1) Go to: http://www.iamacommunityorganizer.org / and demand that McCain and Palin apologize to the dedicated present and former community organizers around the nation;
2) Send this to everyone you know and ask them to sign on.
Thank you in advance for your support.

1. Moms for Obama are planning a march
Hello Moms,

WILL YOU HELP?

We have been planning a Moms for Obama National Rally Day to be held the Saturday before the election. This is going to be ground-breaking rally! We are going to show this nation that we moms are thinkers and community organizers and we're NOT going to have 4 more years of McSame.. We will be standing for change in cities and towns across America and stand united for our children. We moms are going to show this country on November 1, 2008 at 3:00 pm EDT (12:00 pm PST).

Rally Organizer?

Maybe you think you're too busy to plan a rally. Maybe. We know ALL moms are working moms and ALL moms already have a lot on their plate. But what if you could plan a rally right where you live, with several other moms serving as co-organizers and a whole team of moms serving as volunteers? Would that make it easier to take on the challenge?

We will stand with you every step of the way. We will provide a planning manual to templates that you can use throughout the process. We are your support team.We will do everything we can to help make your rally a HUGE SUCCESS!

Please respond by Sept 30, 2008?

On October 1 - just about one month before Election Day -- we want to send out a press release announcing that every state will host rallies. Also with many states organizing multiple rally locations. Will you help make this a day to never forget? If you have a PR background we need you.

Why are we doing this when we have plenty of other things to do? Because we must. Because we look at our children and are filled with concern and dread over what their futures will be if we have four more years of these policies that have already done so much damage. Because when we tuck our children in at night, we know we are the caretakers of their futures and they are counting on us to fight for them.

Will you join in? Will you be a part of this moment in history? Will you stand up and speak out for your kids?
We hope you will. Please email us at MOMSFOROBAMA@sbcglobal.net if you would like to be a part of this very special day. Include your name, city and state and the best email to circulate for other local moms to contact you. We will email you the planning manual and materials . Please contact us 1st before listing on mybo events to avoid two rallies in one city or town.

This rally is entirely grassroots, completely volunteer. Just a bunch of moms who still believe they can make a difference.

Will you help? Please consider organizing a rally in your town or city. Please forward this email to other OBAMA/ BIDEN supporters who might be willing to organize a rally or who might know of a mom who may get involved.

Please join us in this effort. Our kids are counting on all of us.. We need your help, now more than ever. Be a part of this day, in whatever way you can.

YES we can!

And again, please forward this email to as many people as possible.

Fired up and ready to go!

3. my LTTE, and to my senator/representative
On Wednesday night, Governor Palin stood before the Republican convention and belittled Sen. Obama's work as a community organizer. She is repeating this insult in other appearances and it's being echoed by other Republican campaign surrogates.

Many vital services are provided by community organizations and volunteers. Are we to now believe this work is of no consequence, that it is something to be used only as a political tool? The Republicans postponed their convention, presumably to provide community service – was their intention really to provide “service” or was it just another political opportunity for a photo op?

That Senator McCain, Governor Palin and others in the echo chamber are unable to see their own hypocrisy is mind boggling. They will take full advantage to parade volunteers and community workers on their stage when it suits them, and insult them if when it’s politically advantageous.

Community workers, volunteers from those who work with animal rescue groups to our volunteer fire departments, from the leaders of our Girl and Boy Scout troops to church groups, from homeless shelter workers to the meals-on-wheels volunteers, from the volunteers who adopt a highway to our first responders – these volunteers, these community workers all deserve an apology.
