Is America suffering from "Battered Woman Syndrome"??????
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 06:05 PM by BigBearJohn
"In lay terms, this is a reference to any person who, because of constant and severe domestic violence usually involving physical abuse by a partner, becomes depressed and unable to take any independent action that would allow him or her to escape the abuse. The condition explains why abused people often do not seek assistance from others, fight their abuser, or leave the abusive situation. Sufferers have low self-esteem, and often believe that the abuse is their fault. Such persons usually refuse to press criminal charges against their abuser (remind you of Nancy?), and refuse all offers of help, often becoming aggressive or abusive to others who attempt to offer assistance. Often sufferers will even seek out their very abuser for comfort shortly after an incident of abuse."
OH! You mean, like this:

3. if you beleive in "Battered Womans Syndrome"
I'm more of the belief "If Johny jumps off a Bridge that don't mean you have to"

Nobody can make anybody do any thing they don't want to do. When the robber holds a gun to your head and says "Gemme your money or I'll kill you" You still have made a choice

4. A lot of the Democratic Party certainly is;
the line about refusing to press charges against their abuser is especially telling.

5. I would be more inclined to ask
Have internet discourse, 24 hour news, and the Clinton impeachment led some amatuer strategists and citizen pundits to romanticize politics?

It is as if people act like they are in a political movie.
These amatuers disregard the fact that real life strategists and politicians have facts and statistics on hand that they can place in context with a variety of dimensions considered.

People who are actually working hands on also happen to know more about elections and political strategy. Although, I would hope that memories are not so short as to have forgotten that Obama did not attack Hillary despite the "kitchen sink." He knew better because he had Claire McCaskill to help him. She beat an incumbant Gov. in a primary for the first time in Missouri history. She lost the general election, though. She was not a particularly strong candidate. Although he was not particularly popular, Bob Holden should have won his primary. A lot of people were turned off by him as soon as she got attacked.

To extend you metaphor, how popular will Joe Biden be if he is perceived as Palin's father berating her or beating up on her? For some reason if you flip it and Democrats become the abusers it is tough to imagine us actually capturing more votes.

If a person is to recall what kind of upset just happened - without attacks on the expected winner, they might want to think this thesis through.
