Something to consider - what must the rest of the world think of us now? |
|
They held their collective noses and shook their heads in amazement (or fear) watching the 8 year keystone cop episode. Now they see someone uniquely qualified to be president - they see that perhaps our country may have hope afterall by valuing the diversity that was fought for so poignantly, first in the Civil War, then in the Civil Rights movement. They see that we've selected for one of the two major parties someone with nuance, with intelligence, and with hope. Then they see the ugly side of our culture rear its head and the other party select a Reality Show/Jerry Springer ticket.
What must they think? I am sure some of them are licking their chops at the possibility of an even more rapid descent of our country if we completely lose our national minds and go for the sleight of hand choice.

|
BBC Reporters were covering Ike in Cuba. Our reporters were probably still waiting for permission to go there.

and are hoping for a McCain win to finish the US off.
What excites them isn't that McCain wants to magnify and extend the hot and cold war that the US has declared against the entire "non-western" world. It's the absurdly reckless US financing of the many many wars it starts, and the financing of the absurdly overblown military machine that's required in the US attempt to rule the world in the 21st century. This has put the US in hock so deeply to China, and to tin-pot mideastern regimes, and etc., that the US is effectively in the same position of lost autonomy as other 3rd world countries drowning in debt who're forced by their financiers to either obey or face economic destruction.
Of course, that isn't good, not for the US and not for "western" economies that're coupled with the US economy. Which is why a new buzzword in the IMF and World Bank arsenal is "decoupling" - even US allies are looking for ways to safely "decouple" from the US economy before they're dragged down with it.
