I've had it with 'Palin the city mayor'
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 11:29 PM by midnight armadillo
Wasilla is 5500 people. FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED. Yes, they may technically have a city form of government with a mayor, but dammit it's a small friggin' town. She would have had, what, a police chief, a fire marshall, a clerk or three to look over? I've taken dumps bigger than Wasilla.

And yet the GOP refrain is "executive experience as a city mayor." 5500 people living amongst a few smaller communities just doesn't yield the same challenges as mayors of REAL FUCKING CITIES. There are 17 cities in the US with populations bigger than the whole damn state of Alaska (no offense to Alaskans), much less the flyspeck that is Wasilla.

I will eat a testicle (one of my own, that is) if any major news organization points this out.

2. Calm down
Wasilla is lethal to Palin too .... she hired a city manager
instead of doing the work herself

3. I think it can be said that Alaska is far from a microcosm
of our country.

That's not a cut down on Alaska.

4. I hear you.
On the other hand, I find it hard to take seriously those states that are so tiny land wise. It is my mean west of the Rockies attitude.

5. Yeah, I live in an unincorporated neighborhood outside of Los Angeles that has a population of 5k...
I consider that size basically a neighborhood. We have a fire station, a post office, and a school... it's not a frickin' city or even really a "town." It's a neighborhood. It's like she was the head of a community group or neighborhood watch or something.
