WSJ editorial co-authored by Palin shows newfound mastery of Freddie & Fannie
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 07:36 AM by GoesTo11
Hilarious attempt to recast her as expert, after yesterday's revelation that she basically didn't even know what Freddie & Fannie did.

We'll Protect Taxpayers
From More Bailouts
By JOHN MCCAIN and SARAH PALIN
September 9, 2008

The bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is another outrageous, but sadly necessary, step for these two institutions. Given the long-term mismanagement and flawed structure of these two companies, this was the only short-term alternative for ensuring that hard-working Americans have access to affordable mortgages during this difficult economic period.

We are strong advocates for the permanent reform of Fannie and Freddie. For years,

Enduring reform of Fannie and Freddie is a key first step.

In the future, Fannie, Freddie or any government organization should never insure a loan when the homeowner doesn't have enough of his or her own capital in the investment.

snip

Fixing Fannie and Freddie, and reforming our mortgage and financial markets, is critical to getting the housing market and the entire economy moving again. A great deal of the savings and wealth of American families is wrapped up in the value of their homes. A house has traditionally been the wealth-building course to retirement. The housing industry employs millions of Americans. One of us, John McCain, said over two years ago, "If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose."

Fannie and Freddie's lobbyists succeeded and Congress failed. Under our administration this will not happen again.

8. Good point
McCain is acting like he hasn't been part of the problem. Sarah Palin didn't even know what these entities were a week ago.

7. then why
the fuck are you using the same dude who pushed this legislation through in a sneaky 300 page addendum when no one had a chance to read it to be your ECONOMIC ADIVSER

and why did you say you would appoint him treasurer if elected?????

PHIL GRAMM?????

Husband to the Enron board member

Enron the other great example of Gramm's deregulating

but of course, the Gramms made a ton of money

How can they LIE like this? OH, and if that wasn't enough, ack them what they think of their dude's work on the OCC, which put the nail in the coffin...and how after the OCC "changed" lending laws (they just changed them -- like a signing statement) the states who saw the problems mounting way way back (2003 ish I think) petitioned the Republican Congress to oversee the OCC and to hear their concerns.

Buuuuuut No. The pukes laughed at the states and changed a law so that states had no authority over lending anymore.

the big bad federal government, whom they keep telling us they are not a fan of, they put big govt in charge of our lending.

Yeah. that went well.

So now they are running on fixing f & f?

this can work since most of America has no idea what happened, but it is indicative of their lack of character, their tendency toward misrepresenting themselves, and the fact that they are 4 more years of the same lying bs. These guys aren't just crooks and liars. they are very, very incompetent.
