Historical Precedent for When a VP Candidate Outshines the Top of the Ticket?
I am asking those who have studied Presidential politics or have been around much longer than my memory has been.

Is there an historical precedent for a veep candidate the far outshines the pres. candidate the way Caribou Barbie has dominated mcPOW?

I would be very worried if I were mcPOW, I just wonder if anything similar to this has happened. He knows the crowds are for her, and can't go solo, probably again for the rest of the campaign.

Thoughts?

1. Honestly, I don't think he cares, if she can bring him the crowds. He just wants to win.

14. Give us some ammunition
I joined this site in hopes of finding intelligent, factual information to use to persuade my co-workers and friends who are leaning to the right. I am disappointed in finding nothing but childish name calling and passing of internet rumors with little or no basis of fact. The Obama campaign has provided little for us to use to gain support. We need a message. All he seems to be doing is whining that he is the agent of change. He will lose that battle with Biden standing next to him. WE WILL LOSE THIS UNLESS HE WAKES UP AND DEVELOPS A STRATEGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15. Teddy Roosevelt - Don't bring him up...
1/2 term Governor... mayor for a year or two... hunter... fisher... parent... quickly became VP with no political experience then a President most people respect...

We do NOT need that story line out on the Intertubes.

12. Benson was formidable, but he didn't inspire enthusiasm or bring crowds.

5. He's in trouble and he knows it.
She's going to fade, but in the meantime she is the one that's generating any interest i the GOP.

8. Well, I know that Charles got really pissed off when the press dumped him for Diana.
I'm hoping for a royal temper tantrum from McCain!

10. There may have been a case where the VP out-shined the
Presidential candidate. The result was that they lost the election.

11. she has nothing to bring to the table.
as far as her stand on the issues she knows nothing, and does not do anything for women's issues, does not believe in climate change, does not believe in abortion in any case such as rape or incest, Iraq invasion believes it was an Act of God, and considers she has foreign policy experience cause Alaska is close to Russia, Give me a break huh, this truly insults me.

13. I don't know but she acts like she's running the show, yesterday I saw
footage of them arriving at some event, they're walking in to go to the stage, Palin stops to rush over to shake hands with fans on the sidelines, McCain is dumbfounded, guesses he should go shake hands to but by the time he gets there Shady Sarah is already rushing up onto the stage and waving like she's the Prez candidate. McCain is twisting in the wind the entire time, how could anyone vote for this boob for President?
