Did anyone just see that helicopter shot of the McCain rally? |
|
It started far away, SWOOPED IN FOR A CLOSEUP of the crowd (not a zoom) and then pulled out.
All this occurred as the reporter called it an "Obama sized crowd".
Does everyone see what's going on here? Stagecraft, with expensive helicopter shots (no way the SS would let a news copter that close), and those sticks that make crowds louder. They're creating a myth for the numbed TV viewers. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Oh, and Palin just told her Ebay half-truth again, and the crowd goes wild. :eyes:

instead. They showed a little bit of Barack's speech but then cut away. They needed to show her stump speech full of lies again, I guess. Assholes.

6. That's The Way It Is, And It's Only Going to Get Worse |

Obama's greatest asset is is speaking ability, so the networks are under orders to cut away, chop up, talk over or otherwise prevent the people from seeing or hearing Obama speak for more than a few minutes at a time.
As the campaign progresses, we will see less and less of Obama's speeches on TV.

4. If this is the rally in Lebanon, Ohio... |
|
it is NOT an Obama-sized crowd. The street where the Golden Lamb is on could not handle anything of that size.
Oh...one tidbit from that rally...Palin is qualified because she once rode her snowmobile 40 miles in a storm. Now...if she did it while barefoot and going to school, THAT's something else.
What really is pissing me off here is that Obama is speaking on education at a high school roughly 25 miles away. The media here in Dayton started out with Obama but now they are all covering McCain. Why ANY campaign scheduler would have his candidate appearing in the same place on the same day at the same time as his opponent -- and in a heavily GOP part of Ohio as this is, to boot -- is totally beyond me.

5. Aw, 'tis okay. Lots of excitement for that part of the state. Let the folks hear and see |
|
the stark differences between the two candidates. It sucks that the national media is so flipping biased but the local stations are probably covering both.
Barack has to reach those red counties and time is growing short.

Obama came on about 10 minutes before McCain and all three Dayton stations began with him.
The ABC affiliate, which has a sister station at a weaker signal, kept McCain and switched Obama to the "poor relation" channel. The CBS and NBC affiliates switched to McCain as soon as he started speaking, and kept with him until he finished his speech. Obama was cut off as soon as McCain took the stage, with promise that Obama would be covered more during the noon news.
In a market this size, in an area of Ohio this important, something got screwed up. Don't know who scheduled to come here first (hell, I had NO idea that Obama was even coming). People here had a right to hear Obama's speech on education in full -- many schools in the area and across the state are either on academic watch or academic emergency because they are so poor. They did not need to hear the same old McPalin bullshit that they can probably recite in their sleep by now.

11. Well, AngryOldDem, if the local media is that biased they probably wouldn't have |
|
shown Barrack if he held a week-long rally.
Sorry to say the sad truth. The timing merely gave them a plausible excuse, unfortunately.
Now hit the streets! :hi:
