Controversy over school use for McCain/Palin rally...
I hope this little ploy backfires, lots of Obama supporters show up to shout them down, and the kids get a REAL lesson in politics. If my kid were a student there, they'd be going to school in an Obama/Biden t-shirt and I'd DARE them to send her/him home.

Sen. John McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, are holding a campaign rally at Fairfax High School tomorrow morning in violation of a school system policy, prompting some teachers and community leaders to question district officials.

According to the Fairfax County policy, which addresses how the community can use school facilities, "School buildings and grounds may not be used for campaign activities during school hours."

Superintendent Jack D. Dale said he made an exception to the policy because he thought it would be a good learning experience for students. "We are not participating in a political rally," he said. "We are letting our kids have new educational opportunities." He alerted the School Board about the event yesterday during a meeting at the school administration building.

1. Then make it a field trip
Stick to the district's rules and don't allow the rally there but allow the students to go to the rally as a field trip. Fucking liars.

2. Well, invite Obama/Biden then......
I can't imagine that it would be a good learning experience for only ONE side to be represented.

3. As a NoVA resident, I was outraged to hear about this yesterday and
I'm glad that the WaPo ran a story on it.

The actual headline was well-written: "School Use for McCain, Palin Rally Bucks Rule."

I even got a robocall inviting me to call and get a ticket to attend.

6. Their excuse is that Obama used Robinson Secondary for a rally..
back in JULY when school was not in session, but they said there were "arts" programs going on there. LAME. I'm really pissed about this. I'm composing a letter to Mr. Dale now.
