"It is NObama for me"...
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 12:54 PM by Labors of Hercules
"I may be a registered democrat, but it is NObama for me."

This is from a woman I KNOW is progressive and just registered DEMOCRATIC.

I was shocked! Has anyone else heard this sentiment from a registered Democrat?

I really don't know what to make of it.

:wtf:

Perhaps she needs to hear that and be asked to reconsider.

8. Hillary brought some new voters into the process
They are not political, but they were excited about a woman candidate. These are the people who are supporting McCain solely because of Palin. I know someone like that. I do think that if Obama indicated that Hillary would play a key role in his administration it might persuade some of these women to back him.

25. I'm shocked that Clinton-supporters are allowing this any-vagina-works jackassery....
to go unchallenged. Feminists, and anyone who cares about equality, should be incensed by such drivel.

(shrug) Maybe the poster is correct. Maybe any-vagina-is-good-enough is true for Clinton supporters. If so, I don't want to ever hear a Clinton-supporter whine about sexism.

12. If she just registered Democratic recently, she doesn't sound too progressive.
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 12:54 PM by Overseas
Wouldn't she have been registered Democratic to oppose Bush in 2000 and 2004 as well?

She may be a fake progressive. Sounds like a Republican in disguise to keep the "disgruntled feminists" (who want to vote against their own interests) myth alive.

Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 12:56 PM by Dawgs
I don't mean to offend, but there is no excuse in letting our friends or family vote for anyone but Obama.

I think you need to start teaching this woman something.

You can start by telling her that a loss for Obama will give us 20-30 years of a Republican dominated supreme court - or 7 of the 9 judges will be not very old conservatives at the end of McCain's first term. It's not a matter of when Roe vs. Wade will be overturned.

22. The only "Democrats" I've heard it from....
Are people in the "PUMA" / "Just Say No Deal" crowd. Which are mostly GOP plants or dupes, plus some bitter dead-enders that are ignoring everything Sen. Clinton has ever stood for.

If the person also goes off on tears about how Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Donna Brazzle "appointed" Sen. Obama, then it's pretty much assured they're a PUMA/JSND. Their mind is made up, don't confuse them with facts.

It's amazing how they can claim to be progressives, and yet spout comments and insults that wouldn't be out of place at Free Republic.

27. Yes, I posted elsewhere about it.
It is racism. I let them go. I focus on peeling off republicans. I've had better luck with that. For every Dem that won't go with Obama I can usually find at least two republicans who will. I'm in California, so I have that luxury to let it go. There is a type of republican that is a "goldwater repub" (I am learning) that will not vote for McCain/Pallen. At least that's what I'm finding in California. Consider this an option to deal with this issue.

31. They come into our office and drop off money for
democratic candidates without changing their registration and I have had a few come up to me quietly and admit they are voting Obama. I know this is out of everyone's comfort level, but we need to approach the repubs as well, maybe narrow it to those who are active voters and little more knowledgeable. They are out there and a vote is a vote.

35. Unfortunately, I know of 2 lifelong female Dems
who won't be voting for Obama, and I am from the Philly suburbs. One is turned off by Biden, the other one, I'm not sure - we were all Kerry supporters in 2004. One is in her early 40s and the other is almost at retirement age.

So if I sound sad and defeated, please understand. There are dems I know who will NOT vote for a Rep, period, and then there are my 2 friends who need to get their heads examined.

33. Do you live in a state that allowed switching for the primary?
I had a former good friend who upon his visit to my house stated "I wouldn't vote for him because he is black." His wife chimed in that she switched so she could vote for Clinton to fuck up the Dem's. They are from Texas, you may have run across one of these great Americans!
