CNN ~ McCain ahead in national polls; Obama up in electoral votes.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/09/presidential.polls/index.html?eref=rss_politics&iref=polticker

In the Electoral College standings, the most recent survey shows 243 electoral votes either safely in Obama's column or leaning his way. At this point, McCain can claim only 189.

5. Good! It seems "the polls" are demoralizing quite a
few people right now even the electorals are still lookin' good.

I read about this site where they concluded that the polls were showing the red states redder but not so much change in the Swing States.

7. Check it out
Many of the state polls used to determine the Electoral College standings, however, were conducted before the conventions.

Somehow that doesn't give me much comfort

8. Not according to EV.com. Newer polls show Obama holding the EV.
