Peaking too soon?
Just a hunch at this point, but it seems to me that the Republicans are peaking in popularity too soon, and will be on the downhill in weeks to come. Barring some catastrophy that complicates everything, I think they've already shown all their cards and fired their best ammunition. If we stick to our message of who is most likely to bring fundamental, systemic change then we should do very well from here on out. What do you think?

1. The recent onslaught coincides directly with dumping the primary $$$ before the GE.
McBush has taken public financing which is not to say he won't have all kinds of help from 527s, but it explains the dump of $$$ before their convention.

2. Sarah was a gift to them and fired up the base
BUT, she was really really not vetted at all. And it's becoming clearer and clearer every day that she isn't ready to be President (that's the one major qualification for VP). And that makes Johnny boy look bad.

Don't worry about the polls this week. Start looking more closely next week.

3. Actually, I hope
you're not SPEAKING too soon. Just cautiously optimistic over here...if elections were guaranteed to be fraud-free, I'd feel a lot better about how things are playing out.

4. If you're still working on firing up your base at this stage of the game
AFTER the conventions, you've got problems, IMO. The GOP has apparently dispensed with trying to reach out to the middle.

Just my 2 cents.

5. I've been saying that McCain/Palin is Mondale/Ferraro all over again.
Obama won't achieve the same degree of landslide, probably due to racism and reich-wing control of mass media, but it should be a big win nevertheless.

6. Don't forget all those down-ticket races, Senator, Congress, etc.

We stand to add to our control of the Senate and Congress - which can only work in Obama's favor.
