My tax dollars pay every many woman and child in Alaska $3,500 per year? |
|
What's up with that? It pisses me off.
They pay less in federal taxes than they pay yet they get to keep enough oil taxes to give every many woman and child $3,500 per year?
Why isn't anyone talking about that?
I have no problem with the amount being different between states. Hell, I wouldn't care if Alaska got the most money but not if they are taking my tax dollars and giving it back to the residents in cash.

1. Did you read this piece "Alaskanomics" by Michael Kingsley! Oh snap!! |
|
It bears out what you've just written, and is a scathing indictment of her fiscal personality. http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20080909/us_time/sarahpalinsalaskonomics

2. I'm from Alaska. Not lived there for many years. I know the feds & oil pay for everything. |
|
And yes, I got the numbers from the Kingsley article. I've been fuming every since. I'd never really thought of it that way.
I'll help out other states when they need it. But I don't see why I pay taxes to line the pockets of the Palin family. Can't they just work for it themselves?
We will buy the Palin family of 7, a new car this year. They will get a big, fat check for nearly $25,000 and it is MY tax dollars that are doing it.
We gotta stop this addiction to oil. One more reason. Make Alaskans work for it again.

3. This $3269 amount is new... |

but it sounds like it's been around $1500 for a while. So assuming that it will be $1500 going forward into the future, that means by the time Trig Palin is 18 he will have received at least $27000 of welfare while my federal tax dollars are still going to fund Alaskan pork projects.
If the payments stay at that $3269 level or go up, he will get at least $58842 by the time his is 18!

4. It's not 'socialism' when they do it! |

The Alaska Permanent Fund distribution will be a record this year. The infant is the only one not eligible for it - you have to have lived in the state for the full year, so the Palin clan will be raking in just under $20K.
