...why are the national polls in pretty much the same place they were before the conventions, still within the margin of error...wouldn't a 20 point swing in any single demographic cause a much greater bounce?...

have to be a corresponding swing by another group to keep things at essentially the same place.

I'm hoping after the NBC poll comes out that the media will stop fixating on that crap ABC/WP poll (showing Obama up by a point) regarding white women.

As a white woman, I call BULLSHIT!!! All the white women I know are turned off by her which seems consistent with the CNN poll showing women were more negative toward her then men. They actually (smartly for once) said that the more negative view by women is probably because MORE WOMEN ARE DEMOCRATS and Palin polarized the electorate - more men are Repubs and so they seemed to have a more positive view of her.

I was shocked that CNN managed to not simply go with gender crap and say this was catfighting or "women are harder on women".
