Has anyone actually looked at the religious makeup of the US Congress (House in particular)?
Assembly of God (3) is represented purely by Republicans.
The sole atheist is a Democrat.
The sole Quaker is a Democrat.
The two Buddhists are Democrats.
All the Christian Scientists are Republicans.
Most of the Eastern Orthodox are Democrats.
Most of the Jews are Democrats.
Most of the LDS are Republicans (Harry Reid being a notable exception)
All the "non affiliated" are Democrats.
United Church of Christ is solely represented in the Senate by Barack Obama and Max Baucus - both Democrats.

Mark.

Haven't seen a breakdown for the House. But here's more senate info:

Catholics split 16 Dem/9 repub

Interestingly, Jews (9D,2R,1Ind), Presbyterians (11R/2D), Mormons (4R/1D) and Episcopalians (6R/4D) are "overrepresented" in the Senate in the sense that there are a greater percentage of Senators affiliated with those religious denominations that occurs in the general population. Baptists, oddly enough, are "underrepresented" (6R/1D = 7% of the Senate; 17 percent of the population identify themselves as Baptists).

Not sure why any of this is particularly signficant, but its kind of interesting.
